Sancho Lyttle (193-C-83, college: Houston) and her Houston beat Indiana 75:61 to reach 7-8 and left the last spot in the Western Conference. It was the fourth straight win for the Comets that are improving from game to game. It was a good start for the hosts that opened the game with 20:14 in the opening quarter. Ajavon scored the first seven points of the quarter, and Mistie Williams' layup capped a 9-0 run and gave Houston its largest lead of the half at 29:14. Again Ajavon was on fire for Comets in the second quarter as Houston took a 39:29 lead into halftime. Indiana recovered a bit in the third quarter and produced 18:15 in it. In the last period to solve all the problems Houston went on a 19-3 run to capture 20-point lead in the game. Sancho Lyttle scored seven points in the run, and Snow netted six. With 21:14 Houston finished the period and grabbed 75:61 victory. Indiana committed 26 turnovers, which Houston turned into 29 points. Ajavon was unstoppable with 24 points and 2 assists. Sancho Lyttle collected 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Snow added 12. Sutton-Brown top-scored for the guests with 13 points and 6 rebounds.
Before that the Comets posted a rare away from home 82:81 victory beating the San Antonio Silver Stars in extra period. Tina Thompson knocked down a jump shot with 1.2 seconds remaining in overtime to carry the Comets to the 5th win in the season. Michelle Show led the Comets with 17 points and 11 boards. Tina Thompson finished with 16 points, while Mwadi Mabika had 15 in a win. Becky Hammon answered with 25 points for the Silver Stars. Ann Wauters came up with 19 points as the hosts suffered their first home loss in the season.
Sancho Lyttle scored a career-high 23 points to lead the Houston Comets to a 77:71 win over San Antonio on Thursday night. Lyttle, starting in place of injured forward Tina Thompson, helped Houston rally from a 10-point second-half deficit. Ann Wauters netted 14 points, made 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals.
