Sancho Lyttle (193-C-83, college: Houston) becomes even hotter for her Houston in WNBA. In the game over over Atlanta she scored 15 points and made tremendous 18 rebounds!. Atlanta rallied a lot, cutting the lead to 66:62 after Ivory Latta's steal and layup. Atlanta then hit three free throws to cut the lead to 68:65, but Johnson hit a short jumper and made two free throws to put the game away. Houston won 72:65 and reached the 8th win at that time.
On July 5th Tina Thompson scored 19 points in her first game since missing four games leading the Houston Comets to a 73:65 victory over the Sacramento Monarchs. The Comets reached 9-9 for the first time this season after they started the year 0-5. The Comets have won eight of their last 12. Maiga had 12 and Sancho Lyttle 10. Sancho Lyttle, who averaged more than 15 points while filling in for Thompson, also had 13 rebounds.
Last night the Los Angeles Sparks needed an overtime to prevail against visiting Houston. The Sparks went on an 8:0 run in the extra frame to pile up an unassailable lead against the Comets. Candace Parker tallied massive 40 points, 16 boards, 6 assists and 5 blocks in a win. Lisa Leslie secured 13 points as the Sparks improved to 12-6 record. Parker had a chance to win the game in regulation but missed one of two freebies to send game into overtime. Tina Thompson answered with 21 points, 7 boards and 6 assists for the Comets. Sancho Lyttle secured 12 points for the Comets who fell to 9-11 record.
