Sancho Lyttle (193-C-83, college: Houston)'s Houston battled back from a double-digit deficit to topple Phoenix at home. The Mercury led 52:43 at halftime and stretched the gap to 11 points in the third stanza but the Comets recovered. They opened the final stanza on a 10:4 run to surge in front and maintained it till the final buzzer. Tina Thompson had 19 points and 7 rebounds for the Comets. Michelle Snow contributed 16 points, while Matee Ajavon had 12 points in a win. Diana Taurasi paced the Mercury with 31 points. Sancho Lyttle netted 8 points and made 10 rebounds. Kelly Mazzante and Cappie Pondexter secured 15 points apiece in defeat.
Michelle Snow scored 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Houston Comets to a 75:72 overtime win over the Los Angeles Sparks. Tamecka Dixon added 17 points, including six in overtime,Candace Parker and Lisa Leslie each scored 16 points for the Sparks, who have lost five straight on the road, falling to 5-6 away from home. Marie Ferdinand-Harris added 15 points for Los Angeles. Leslie forced overtime when she tied it at 65 on a long 3-pointer with 6 seconds left in regulation.Comets with a 10-0 run to take a 13-9 lead with 3:40 left in the opening period. Thompson missed her first six shots, but Hamchetou Maiga scored six straight points during the run to make up the difference. Sancho Lyttle collected 7 points and 9 rebounds.
On July 17th Sancho Lyttle scored 16 points and tied a career-high with 18 rebounds. Houston Comets snap a three-game losing streak with a 96:88 victory over the Minnesota Lynx.
