2010 Centrobasket, Day One: SAINT VINCENT - GUATEMALA 54-105

Guatemala destroyed Saint Vincent in Day One of the 2010 Centrobasket in Mayaguez. It was a 54-105 blowout win for Guatemala, who jumped to 1-0 in Preliminary Group B. Beside Guatemala and Saint Vincent, other participants of the same pool are Puerto Rico and Trinidad and Tobago. Blanca Amado (180-G/F-79) top-scored for the winners with 25 points. Cynthia Rivera (180-F/C-82) was the MVP of this game with valuation 31. She spent 23 minutes on the court registering 23 points and 5 boards. Diana Crespo (177-G/F-85) helped her country with 17 pts. In defeat, Sorayah Williams responded with 22 points and 10 boards. Tenicha Afeefah Gittens had 13 pts.
Guatemala totally smashed Saint Vincent in the first quarter. Blanca Amado and her teammates drained magnificent 35 points and at the same time stopped their rivals to just five. It was a clear sign what to expect for rest of the game. Still, Saint Vincent improved in the second period loosing it just by one (21-22). Third quarter was another good one for Guatemela (18-28), who jumped to impressive 39-point lead before the last frame. Last ten minutes ended 10-20 for the final 54-105 blowout.
In Day Two in Mayaguez, Guatemala will play against Trinidad and Tobago. Saint Vincent will meet Puerto Rico.
