Gardiner is back at Leones

Leones de Managua (LSB) agreed terms with experienced 34-year old Vincentian ex-international center John Gardiner (205-83, college: Sam Houston State). It is actually his comeback to Leones as he has played here before. Gardiner is a dual citizen owning also British V.Islands passport. He played last season at played at Al Arabi in Saudi Arabian Division 1.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others Gardiner's team was regular season runner-up in El Salvador Liga Mayor Clausura in 2016. He was also voted Latinbasket.com All-El Salvador Liga Mayor Torneo Clausura Center of the Year in 2016.
Gardiner represented Saint Vincent at the CBC Championships in Tortola (Virgin Islands) four years ago. His stats at that event were 5 games: 14.2ppg, Reb-2 (7.0rpg), 1.8apg, Blocks-1 (2.0bpg), FGP: 58.5%, FT: 34.6%.
Gardiner is quite experienced player. His career allowed him to visit three different continents, while he played in four different countries. Gardiner tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Latin America and of course North America. He has played previously professionally in Ireland (Tigers), Mexico (Dorados, Ciudad, Cerveceros, Tuzos de la UAZ Zacatecas and Gigantes), Kosovo (Trepca) and El Salvador (Quezaltepeque).
Gardiner is close to retirement age as a player. It's very possible he may end his playing career at Leones.
Gardiner attended Sam Houston State until 2008 and it will be his tenth season as a professional player.
