Akeme Smart (ex Ingenieria) joins Atletico Nacional

Atletico Nacional (LPB) agreed terms with 30-year old Vincentian ex-international center Akeme Smart (218cm-104kg-91, college: McCook CC). Smart played last summer at Ingenieria in Nicaraguan LSB league. He also spent pre-season at San Salvador BC (Liga MB) in Salvadorean league.
Smart has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2016.
He also represented Saint Vincent at the CBC Championships in Tortola (British Virgin Islands) six years ago. His stats at that event were 6 games: 1.3ppg, 1.3rpg.
Smart is quite experienced player. Smart's career allowed him to visit four different continents, while he played in five different countries. He tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Asia, Latin America and of course North America. Smart has played previously professionally in Canada (Windsor Express), Romania (Olimpic), Saudi Arabia (Al Salam), Spain (Santfeliuenc, Benidorm and AEC Collblanc) and El Salvador (Brujos).
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others his team made it to the El Salvador Liga Mayor Apertura Semifinals in 2019. He was voted to Latinbasket.com All-El Salvador Liga Mayor Torneo Clausura 2nd Team in 2019.
Smart attended McCook Community College until 2013 and it will be his tenth season as a professional player.
