Ruckers outgunned De Schakel to take the lead. Jason Fisher stepped up and scored 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and the former international Safiero Fraser (193-96) chipped in 9 points and 9 rebounds. Ruckers' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side Stefano Eudoxie responded with 8 points and 12 rebounds and the former international Cheraldo Beverdijk (195-91) scored 10 points and 7 rebounds.

SCVU nipped Yellow Birds to earn 1-0 lead in the series. CVU forced 20 Yellow Birds turnovers and had a 18-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. 28 personal fouls committed by Yellow Birds helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of international forward Earvin De-Randamie (190-92) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points and 13 rebounds. Oscar Patterson contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. International forward Dancell Leter (198-97) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and international Chaief Wielingen (188-0) added 17 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists in the effort for Yellow Birds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game.
