Chartres sign Gavin Kensmil

Gavin Kensmil

Chartres Basket Masculins (NM1) has signed 25-year-old Surinamese 201cm forward Gavin Kensmil (college: SF Austin) for the upcoming season. He is the second import player on the team, joining Congolese Rigo Edzata. Kensmil is no stranger to the French League, having been the top rebounder at EB Orthez in the ProB last season, where he averaged 9.9ppg, 7.1rpg, 1.7apg, and 1.0spg in 36 games. He is expected to have a more prominent role in NM1 and is coming off a successful season that earned him Eurobasket.com All-French ProB Honorable Mention. In the previous season (2022-23), he played for another French team, Aix Maurienne, also in ProB.
He graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2022 and it's his third season in pro basketball. Kensmil played also for Iona College for one year.
