Point guard Khadeen Carrington had 19pts for Seton Hall but in a losing effort, 84-76, against fifth-ranked Xavier on Saturday at Cintas Center. The loss concludes a three-game stretch of facing nationally ranked opponents with Seton Hall (13-6, 3-4 BIG EAST) winning one of three. The Pirates defeated No. 12 Providence a week ago before being edged by No. 4 Villanova by one point. The Pirates still sit in sixth place in the conference standings. Xavier (17-2, 5-2 BIG EAST) now is in a tie with Georgetown for second place.

Carrington, who is Seton Hall leading scorer in conference games only, registered 19pts on a 7-of-17 shooting , going 4-of-9 from behind the arc. He is averaging 17.1pts in the seven BIG EAST contests. Against Villanova on 20th January, Carrington had 17pts and three assists without a turnover in 31 minutes in a close 72-71 game. On Saturday 16th, sophomore Carrington scored a career-high 22 points which guided Seton Hall to knocked off No. 12 Providence on the road, 81-72, at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.

Carrington, who came off the bench for a second time this season, did the bulk of his work at the free throw line, going a perfect 12-for-12, all in the second half. Carrington's 22pts is a new career high, surpassing the 21 he had against George Washington. The 12-for-12 at the free throw line is also a career best for him, and it ties him for fourth all-time in Pirates history for most consecutive free throws made in a single game.
