14yr old Jordan Persad added his name to FIBA individual scoring records with a career and tournament high of 56pts, 13 steals, 7rebs and 5assists against Guyana in the final Group B game of the 2016 Centrobasket 15U Championships. Persad also had an incredible +60 efficiency rating with 62.9% FG which included four three pointers and eight free throws from ten attempts.

According to available data, Persad recorded the 2nd highest individual score for a single FIBA championship game. Korea's Hur Jae, who scored 62pts in a game against Egypt in 1990, heads an impressive list that also included well-known Brazilian Oscar Schmit with 52pts and NBA German legend, Dirk Nowitzki with 47pts. Interestingly, Persad was the top scorer (32.2ppg) at the recently concluded Caribbean Basketball Championships and currently leads Centrobasket with 39.7ppg with his nearest rival, Panamanian Edward Lopez averaging 27.3 with one game left to play.

In the battle for third place at the group stage, the Barry Stewart coached T&T team recorded its first win a dominant 107-60 display against their Guyanese counterparts. Led by Persad astonishing performance, team T&T controlled the contest from the tip-off and led each period 17-8, 30-23, 17-13 and 43-16. Meanwhile, Persad was ably supported by Micah Didier-Leblanc with 12pts and Zidane Moore who had a double-double, 10pts & 15assists.

Unfortunately, Guyana also lost their final game today against Costa Rica, 115-24. With the loss they ended up in the 7th position. Costa Rica and T&T will battle for 5th and 6th places on Sunday. Mexico plays Panama for 3rd and 4th. And, Dominica Republic and Puerto Rico will contest the Championships.
