Ian Young
KTP Basket Kotka (Korisliiga) landed experienced 35-year old Trinidad and Tobago ex-international point guard Ian Young (191-81, college: Auburn, agency: Interperformances). He played in the summer at Caballeros de Culiacan in Mexican CIBACOPA. In 34 games he averaged impressive 16.1ppg, 3.6rpg and 3.1apg.
In 2007 (two years after he left the college) Young was drafted by Iowa Energy (D-League) in ninth round (126th overall).
He attended Auburn University until 2005 and it will be his twelfth (!!!) season in pro basketball.
Among other achievements Young's team made it to the Puerto Rican BSN Cup final in 2013. He received also Latinbasket.com All-CBC Championships 2nd Team award back in 2009.
Young represented Trinidad and Tobago at the CBC Championships in Tortilla (BVI) seven years ago.
He is a very experienced player. Young has quite traveled the world as his pro career brought him to fifteen different countries on four different continents (Europe, Latin America, Africa and of course North America). Young has played previously professionally in Argentina, Bosnia, Brazil (Macae), Dominican Rep., France, Germany, Iran, Italy (Imola and Firenze Legnaia), Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Venezuela (Gaiteros), Puerto Rico (Brujos, Cangrejeros and Mets), Egypt (Al Ahly) and Dominican Republic (Indios de San Francisco).
He is close to retirement age as a player. It may be one of last seasons in his extensive career, which he may end at KTP Basket.
Young's game is described as: Very strong combination guard ... very good scorer ... can play the point guard position ... very good shooter ... good ball-handler ... good defender.
