Center Johnny Hamilton registered a team high 23pts, 14rebs and 3 blocks for the University of Texas Arlington (UTA) in the Sun Belt Championship game on Sunday at Lakefront Arena, New Orleans. But, his UTA Mavericks still went under 74-61 against Georgia State who secured an automatic place, with the win, in the NCAA 2018 Tournament.

Hamilton made 8 of his 10 field goal attempts and went 7-of-8 from the free throw line. However, his team endured its toughest shooting effort of the season and shot just 29.8 percent from the field and made only 4 of 25 3-point attempts in its first-ever Sun Belt title game. UTA concluded its season with a 21-13 record, its third-straight 20-win season and a fourth place regular season finish in the Sun Belt;

It was Hamilton 7th double-double of the season and his 3 block shots against Georgia State, extending his program single season record to 77. His total is also the seventh-highest career total in program history. His scoring total was his second-highest single game total of the season.

He joined his teammate Eric Neal, Louisiana's Frank Bartley, Georgia State's Isaiah Williams and tournament MVP D'Marcus Simons of the Panthers on the All-Tournament Team.

UTA ends its season with its third-straight 20-win season and its 72 victories over the last three years is the second highest total among Division I programs in the state of Texas. Along with UTA, only the University of Houston has won 20 or more games in each of the last three seasons.

Hamilton ended his UTA career with averaging 8.1rbs per game, 11.4pts and shot .664% free throws with .629 field goal %. He also registered 17 seals along with his record breaking 77 blocks.

Meanwhile, in the NCAA tournament point guard Kadeem Carrington will lead 8th ranked Seton Hall against 9th ranked North Carolina State on Thursday in Wichita, Kansas. Carrington is a key part of the Pirates success this season averaging 14.9pts, 4.5 assists and 3.2rbs per game.
