The Detroit Pistons have signed T&T 7' center Johnny Hamilton to partially guaranteed one year deal. He will join some tough company in the 'Bad Boys' of Detroit which will feature NBA All Stars post-players Andre Drummond and Blake Griffin.

Hamilton was impressive for the Pistons during the Las Vegas Summer League after going undrafted in the 2018 draft. He had limited court time, but looked like the best center on their roster. Hamilton, who weighs 230 pounds, bring some size to the Pistons frontcourt. He is very athletic and an outstanding rim protector.

During his playing career at Junior College with Jacksonville Community College and the University of Texas, Arlington he led both teams in block shots. He also was a top rebounder on both rosters. He also shot 63% from the field. Hamilton has drawn comparison to another player, Eric Moreland, who the Pistons released in July.

In his facebook page yesterday Hamilton posted 'What a day to be alive. Thanks to the almighty, my family and coaches for having my back and helping me grow into the man I am today. I couldn't do it without y'all".

'Thanks to the @detroitpistons for granting my first opportunity to be a Professional Athlete. I look forward to this year as I take on a new chapter in my life. I also want to thank everyone that had something to do with me getting to this chapter. Whether negative or positive contributions y'all were all part of God's plan for me.'

Hamilton hails from a rural area in Trinidad, Rio Claro, where he started playing for Warriors in that community before joining NBS Ambassadors that campaigned in the Mayaro Basketball League. He further developed his talent with the Millennium Basketball Academy which was based at Maloney Gardens, D'Abadie. Hamilton was a key player for the St Augustine High School team which he led to a national championship.

With his contract being partially guaranteed, Hamilton is most likely to play for the Grand Rapids Drive once the NBA D League season starts. The Pistons did not opt to use their final two-way contract on him which likely means they feel he needs a bit more development.
