Breanna Charles put on a tidy performance to cop the "Most Valuable Player" award after leading Seattle Storm past Minnesota Lynx, 47-42, in the Open Division All-Star match in the Females Basketball Association (FemBA) League on Sunday. Named after top women's teams in the WNBA, the all-stars for the third annual league did not disappoint putting on an entertaining display at the Southern Regional Indoor Sports Arena in Pleasantville, San Fernando. Charles, a standout player with Club Enterprise, registered a double-double pouring in a match-high 16 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. She also had three blocks, an assist and a steal in the win for the Storm. For the Lynx, Nikiya Baptiste was best offensively with 13 points, grabbed nine rebounds, shared the ball twice and stole the ball twice and blocked a shot but it was not enough to take the close affair. Earlier the Under-15 All-Star match between Baylor and Notre Dame was even more explosive after having gone into double overtime to decide the winner among the teams who were named after the leading NCAA Division I basketball women's teams. Ize Tao Best was explosive on either end of the court to lead Baylor to an 84-77 win over the "Dames" after the scores were tied at 62 at the end of regulation time and 70-70 at the end of the first extra-time. Best of Brian Chase Basketball Academy (BCBA) notched 29 points and grabbed 23 boards while sharing the ball six times, had five steals and a block. Carrisa Ramdial also wowed for Notre Dame producing a match-high 31 points, grabbing six rebounds and had six huge assists and stole the ball seven times but it was not enough to carry her team to victory. The Enterprise star player accuracy from long range was recognised though as she emerged the champion of the three-point shootout competition, netting five in the one-minute timeframe each competitor was afforded. Her teammate Mya Raymond topped the U-15 skills challenge as she executed the drills efficiently and completed the challenge in 24 seconds. On Sunday, the champions will be crowned om both divisions. Defence Force and Brian Chase Academy will meet in the Open final from 5.45 pm following the U-15 title-match between Enterprise and Spartans TT, 2.15 pm.
