Mixed results for T&T 3x3 women at FIBA AmeriCup qualifiers

Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) women team ended their 2022 FIBA AmeriCup tournament with a 1-3 record in Miami on November 5. The # 11th ranked T&T team comprised of 6-3 center Afeisha Noel, 5-11 forward Crystal - Ann George, 6-3 center/forward Jameela Mc Carthy and 5-7 guard Nikiya Baptiste.

In the Qualifying Draw A game 2, T&T scored a comfortable 21-13 win against #18 Barbados. Noel led T&T with 8PTS, Baptiste and Mc Carthy had 5PTS apiece and George 3PTS. In the following game, T&T went under 22-10 to #4 Brazil. Noel also top scored with 5PTS, George added 3PTS while Baptiste and Mc Carthy chipped in with 1PT each.

Following their 1-1 record, T&T faced #6 Puerto Rico in a Pool D game 2 contest but suffered their second loss, 21-14. For T&T Noel had a double five (7PTS+8REBS), George also registered a double five (5PTS+6REB), Baptiste scored 2PTS and McCarthy pulled down 3REBS & 1KAS. Ashley Torres led Puerto Rico with 9PTS and Mari Placido contributed a double five (5PTS & 6REBS).

In their other Pool D game, T&T lost 21-13 to #5 Dominican Republic. Noel again top scored with double five (6PTS+6REB), Baptiste pulled down a 8REBS with 4PTS & 1KAS, Mc Carthy had 2PTS & 5REBS while George added 1PT & 3REBS. For the winners, three players registered a double five, Cheisy Hernandez had 8PTS+5REB with 2KAS, Yenifer Jimenez 7PTS+5REBS and Sugeiry Monsac tallied 6PTS & 12REBS along with 2KAS.

T&T women improved their FIBA 3x3 AmeriCup final position to 9th.
