Briggs, Danglade and Stephen assist DACC

In Illinois, TT trio of 5-11 Jillisa Briggs, 6-3 Julissa Danglade and 6-3 Stephanie Stephen significantly contributed to short-handed Danville Area Community College (DACC) in an 88-77 victory over Elmhurst College JV in a non-conference game on January 5. DACC completes in the National Junior Community College Association (NJCCA) Division 2, Region 24.

Power forward Briggs led the trio with a double-double 11pts & game high 15rebs along with an assist. Stephen, who also started at center alongside Briggs, added 10pts, 3rebs & 1blk. While, back-up center Dangalde chipped in with 8pts and 5rebs. DACC, with an overall record of 10-4, only had eight players rostered for the game.

DACC conference opener is against Illinois Central College (9-6) on January 13. Briggs is averaging 4.5ppg & 7.5rpg: 44.8 %2FPM & 57.9%FT. Danglade has 1.4ppg & 1.9rpg: 44.4%2FPM & 75.0% FT and Stephen 2.1ppg & 3.3rpg: 45.0%2FPM & 90.0%FT.

Over in Memphis, TN, 6-3 sisters Afika and Nairobi Lewis experienced mixed results with Lemonye-Owen College at home in the NCAA Division 11, Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. In the first game, Afrika had 2pts & 2rebs, while Nariobi scored 2pts & 1reb in a close 73-75 loss to Savannah State University on January 4. In the next game, Lemonye-Owen College scored a 70-56 victory over Edward Waters College on January 6, however the game stats are yet to be released. Lemonye-Owen remains at home on January 10 against Tougaloo College. Afrika Lewis is averaging 0.5ppg & 0.9rpg: 22.2%2FPM & 0.0%FTM while Nairobi is averaging 1.6ppg, 1.4rpg & 1.0bpg: 46.2%2FPM & 50.0%FTM.

Down in Big Springs, Texas, 6-1 center Alysa Connelly contributed six points and two offensive rebounds in twelve minutes off the bench and Howard College (overall 11-5) hammered Western Gulf 76-40 in an exhibition game at home on January 8. Howard open their NJCAA D1, Region 5 conference season, against Midland College (overall 9-6, 0-1 Region 5) at home January 11. Connelly is averaging 1.1rpg & 2.2ppg: 12.5%2FPM & 50.0%FT in thirteen games.
