Briggs double up for DACC- January 31, 2024

In Illinois, 5-11 power forward Jillisa Briggs contributed a double-double 10pts & 15rebs plus one steal in a 61-45 win for Danville Area Community College (DACC) on the road at John Wood Community College (Overall and 9-10, 2-3 conference) in the NJCCA D2, Region 24 Conference, on January 27. It was second time Briggs tallied 15rebs in a game (11/11/2023) with her career best being 18rebs on January 11.
Her fellow freshman compatriots 6-3 Stephanie Stephen and Julissa Danglade also featured in the victory. Stephen chipped in with 1pts, 5rebs & 2plks in 18mins off the bench, while Danglade added 3pts & 1ast in 14mins. DACCC (13-7, 2-3) next play division rivals Spoon River Community College in a non-conference game on January 31. Briggs is averaging 4.7ppg & 7.3rpg: 46.8 %2FPM & 60.6%FT. Danglade has 1.6ppg & 1.8rpg: 41.9%2FPM, 50.0%3FPM & 62.5% FT and Stephen 1.9ppg & 3.7rpg: 39.4%2FPM & 61.1%FT. Over in Memphis, TN, 6-3 Nairobi Lewis experienced two losses with Lemonye-Owen College in the NCAA Division 11, Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. In the first game, Lewis was limited to 1reb in three minutes off the bench in a 46-60 result at Lane College on January 27. Two days later, she scored 2pts & 4rebs as Lemonye went under 52-57 at home to Kentucky State University. Elder sister Afrika was not featured in both games. Lemonye next play a home and away series against Central State University on January 31 and February 3. Afrika Lewis is averaging 0.7ppg & 0.9rpg: 33.3%2FPM & 0.0%FTM while Nairobi is averaging 1.5ppg & 2.1rpg: 38.5%2FPM & 50.0%FTM. Down south in Big Springs, Texas, 6-1 center Alysa Connelly had 2pts, 4rebs & 1stl as Howard College (overall 11-5, 1-5 Region 5) suffered a disappointed loss, 38-70, at home against Odessa (19-3, 5-1) College in the NJCAA D1, Region 5 Conference, on January 29. Howard next play on the road at Frank Phillip College (11-9, 0-5) on February 5. Connelly is averaging 1.1rpg & 1.9ppg: 16.1%2FPM & 55.6%FT. |
