Matthew Pierre, Maloney Pacers & New Chapter Offer Dominant Displays in DIAL Week 3.

The Destiny Invitational Arima League (DIAL) kicked off its third week with an exciting Championship clash between New Chapter Global Sport Academy and the Matthew Pierre Basketball Academy on Thursday, February 1st. New Chapter asserted an early lead 22-15 at the end of the first quarter, but the pendulum swung back to a deadlock by halftime (32 - 32). Despite NCA's strong start in the 3rd quarter, Matthew Pierre wrestled control 52-47 and sealed the deal in a relentless 4th quarter, walking away with a triumphant 72 - 59 victory. Josiah James let Matthew Pierre with 14pts, 9asts, 9rebs, 9stls & 3blks, while Judiah Guy had 12pts, 1ast, 16rebs, 1stl & 1blk in a losing effort.

Friday's Game 1 witnessed an electrifying performance by the Maloney Pacers, dominating right from the 1st quarter against UTT. Despite UTT's spirited rally in the second, Pacers maintained their lead, heading into halftime with a substantial advantage (50 - 27). In an unyielding display, Maloney tightened the screws in the third quarter, securing a resounding 97 - 66 victory in a match that showcased their dominance.

In Game 2, Spartans faced resilient opposition from UWI but emerged victorious with a hard-fought 79 - 70 win. UWI, still hunting for their first win, admirably coped with Spartans' press, contributing to a fiercely contested match. However, Spartans' well-drilled squad, maintaining an unbeaten record, proved too formidable in this thrilling encounter.

Saturday's clash saw Caracas City regaining their winning momentum against Morvant Oilbirds in a spirited contest. While the young Oilbirds displayed impressive plays, the fluency of their Venezuelan counterparts posed a challenge. Caracas emerged victorious with a 71 - 57 triumph. Caracas led most of the game, 17-13 at the end of the first quarter 17-13, 18-12 in the second, the third 19-15 with the final period been even, 17-17. Carlos Mayora led the winners with 22pts, 4asts, 9rebs, 5asts & 3blks. Obel Guerra was Oilbirds best player with 22pts, 8asts & 5stls.

In the second matchup of the evening, New Chapter executed their game plan with precision, overcoming Defence Force's early leads in the first quarter. Once the NCA Warriors seized control, there was no turning back, securing a convincing 94-72 win, showcasing their determination and skill on the court.

The drama of Week 3 has set the stage for more intense battles in the weeks to come. The DIAL takes a pause for Carnival, with Week 4 action tipping off on Thursday, February 15th, 2024.
