Nairobi Lewis dominates the boards & blocks

In Memphis, TN, 6-3 sisters Afrika and Nairobi Lewis featured in two losses with Lemonye-Owen College in the NCAA Division 11, Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC). In the first game, Nairobi registered 4pts, team high 8rebs, 1ast & 1blk in a 46-55 result against Tuskegee University (14-6, 11-5 SIAC) on February 12. The following game, Nairobi registered a game & career high 5blks plus 5pts, 9rebs & 1ast in a 46-61 road loss to Lane College (11-13, 9-8 SIAC) on February 17. Afrika was not rostered to play.

Lemonye-Owen (10-13, 8-11 SIAC) next play at Talladega College on February 19. Afrika Lewis is averaging 0.9ppg & 0.9rpg: 33.3%2FPM & 30.0%FTM, while Nairobi is averaging 1.8ppg, 2.8rpg & 1.0bpg: 42.5%2FPM & 50.0%FTM.

Over in Illinois, compatriots 5-11 Jillisa Briggs, 6-3 Julissa Danglade and Stephanie Stephen had mixed with Danville Area Community College (DACC) in the NJCAA Division 11, Region 24 Conference during the last week. In the first game, Briggs had 4pts, 4rebs, 1ast & 1stl in a 46-68 home loss to Parkland College (20-3, 8-1) on February 14. Danglade had 2pts & 1reb and Stephen 2pts & 3rebs.

In their next game, Briggs contributed 5pts, 6rebs, 3asts & & 3stls as DACC smashed Lewis & Clark Community College (2-16, 0-9) 75-42 at home on February 17. Danglade chipped in with 4pts & 2rebs. Stephen was not rostered to play. DACCC (overall 15-10, 4-6 conference) next play Lake Land Community College (19-7, 6-4) on February 21.

Briggs is averaging 5.1ppg & 7.8rpg: 48.6%2FPM & 57.8%FT. Danglade has 1.8ppg & 2.2rpg: 34.5%2FPM, 33.3%3FPM & 62.2% FT and Stephen 2.2ppg & 3.7rpg: 39.1%2FPM & 68.2%FT.

Down south in Texas, 6-1 center Alysa Connelly was included into the starting five for the third consecutive game. Connelly responded with 4pts, second team high 6rebs & 1stl but Howard College (overall 13-13, 2-8 Region 5) still went under 51-62 at New Mexico Junior College in the NJCAA D1, Region 5 Conference, on February 19. Howard will be at home against South Plains College (12-14, 5-5) on February 22. Connelly is averaging 1.5rpg & 2.0ppg: 27.3%2FPM & 55.6%FT.
