Tyrell Gomez lands T&T Top Player Awards

With most leagues regular season already completed, there were only three Trinidad and Tobago overseas-based players in action for week-ending 21 April 2024. Here is the review of their performances.

The Top Player Award goes to US-born 5-8 point guard Tyrell Gomez with a game high 18pts, shared game high 8asts & 3rebs guiding his new team 5th placed Entente Orleans 45 (18-12) to a 96-87 victory over #11 Lille Metropole Basket Red Giants (14-17) in France Pro-B League on April 20. Orleans next play #4 Rouen Metropole Basket (19-11) and #17 ALM Evreux Basket (10-21) on April 24 and 28 respectively. Gomez previously played with Sokol in Poland where he averaged 15.3ppg, 5.4apg, 2.3rpg & 1.2spg: 47.7%2FPG, 42.2%3FPG & 86.7%FT.

Second is 6-9 Kadeem Jack who featured in two losses with Pieno Zvaigzdes in Lithuania-LKL. In the first game, Jack had 13pts & 3rebs in a game dominated by #6 Lietkabelis 90-63 (14-12) on April 16. In their other contest, Jack enjoyed a shared game high 22pts & 5rebs as 11th ranked P.Zvaigzdes (5-22) went under 111-79 to #3 Wolves (20-8) on April 8. P. Zvaigzdes next play Wolves again on April 22 and # 4 Neptunas (16-12) on April 27. Jack is averaging 16.5ppg, 7.4rpg & 1.3bpg: 54.7%2FPG & 60.6%FT.

Third is 7-0 center Johnny Hamilton who chipped in with 4pts, 6rebs and a game high 2blks in 18mins off the bench in his debut game as #2 Beirut Club dominated #7 Antonine 87-71 in Lebanon LBL Quarter-Finals Round 2 on April 15. Beirut next play #3 Sagesse on April 24. Hamilton previously played with Bursaspor in Turkey where he averaged 10.8ppg, 6.8rpg, 1.0apg & 1.6bpg: 59.8%2FPG & 63.6%FT in Turkey-BSL. While in Euro Basketball Championship League, he has 10.6ppg, 5.8rpg & 2.4bpg: 63.4%2FPG & 64.8%FT.
