UNICS Kazan adds Akoon-Purcell to their roster

Devaughn Akoon-Purcell

UNICS Kazan (VTB United League) added to their roster 31-year old American (has also Trinidad and Tobago passport) swingman Devaughn Akoon-Purcell (196cm-93kg-1993, college: Illinois State) for the new 2024-25 season. He has played for the last two years at Lokomotiv. In 41 VTB United League games in Russia, he recorded very impressive stats: 15.4ppg, 3.5rpg, 2.0apg, and 1.0spg last season. He helped them to make it to the semifinals. Quite an impressive season as he was voted to the VTB United League All-Star Game and League Player of the Week. His team made it to the VTB final in 2024.
For the 2021-23 seasons, he played at Galatasaray Ekmas Istanbul (BSL) in the Turkish league.
Akoon-Purcell is a very experienced player. He has played professionally in Denmark (Bakken), France (Le Portel), Israel (Hapoel Tel Aviv), Turkey (Tofas), NBA (Denver Nuggets and OKC Thunder), NBA G League (OKC Blue and Delaware Blue Coats), NBA Summer League (Atlanta Hawks and Indiana Pacers), and The Basketball Tournament (Florida TNT).
Among many awards, he was also selected Eurobasket.com All-FIBA Europe Cup Player of the Year and Eurobasket.com All-FIBA Europe Cup Import of the Year back in 2018.
Akoon-Purcell graduated from Illinois State in 2016 and it will be his ninth season as a professional player. His team made it to the VTB final in 2024. He played also for Eastern Oklahoma State College for 2 years.
