Spartans TT Captures U19 Champions at Basketball Fiesta 2024

The National Cycling Velodrome in Balmain Couva was electrified with excitement as the 2024 edition of Basketball Fiesta celebrated its 5th edition. This year's event was a spectacular showcase of young talent, with over 500 aspiring basketball players from across Trinidad and Tobago competing in age groups ranging from Under 11 to Under 19.

The three-day event saw 16 clubs producing 65 teams, all vying for coveted titles in their respective categories. The atmosphere was reminiscent of an international event, with two courts set up inside the velodrome and live streaming of the games on YouTube. The event featured numerous giveaways and game activities, with the highlight being the championship rings awarded to the U19 Boys and U19 Girls champions.

"We wanted to bring an international standard and continue to raise the bar for Basketball Fiesta, and this year we did just that," said Garvin Warwick, Director of Basketball Fiesta. "This is the first time in history that teams have been awarded championship rings."

U11 Category:
Jakeem King, the MVP, led Royalty Basketball Academy to victory for the second time, defeating Maloney Pacers in the finals. Spartans TT secured third place after overcoming NCA in the playoff.

U13 Category:

U15 Girls Category:
Royalty Basketball Academy claimed the title over Club Enterprise, with 500 Hawks taking the bronze medal.

U15 Boys Category:
The finals saw a heated battle between Spartans TT and Maloney Pacers, with Spartans TT clinching the win. MVP Zachary Julien and teams stifling defense was a key factor in their 20-3 victory.

U17 Category:
Spartans TT triumphed over Hoop Nation Academy from Pleasantville San Fernando, with a score of 31-22. William "Willy" Francis earned MVP honors, supported by Jermelcio Wartes' dominance in the paint.

U19 Girls Category:
Club Enterprise defeated Maloney Pacers 22-12, with Mya Raymond once again capturing the MVP title and leading her team to victory.

U19 Boys Category:
In the main event, Spartans TT captured their third title of the evening with a 40 to 18 pt victory over New Chapter Academy. Jermilco Wartes, William Francis, Liam Gooding, and Joshua Sosman led their team to victory, with Wartes earning MVP honors.

Basketball Fiesta 2024 has set a new standard for youth basketball in Trinidad and Tobago, providing an unforgettable experience for players and fans alike.
