The ANOMALY Basketball Tournament tipped off in fine style, with the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service Basketball Team making a strong statement in the competition's opener at the Maloney Indoor Sport Arena on Saturday 21st September, 2024. Police's crisp ball movement and consistent inside scoring proved too much for the fiery Halcones De Guiria squad, who initially matched the intensity but couldn't maintain the pace. The Lawmen eventually cruised past Halcones with a decisive 100-65 victory. Fabrice Fisher led Police with an impressive 28 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists, while Angel Ramos stood out for Halcones, contributing 18 points and 7 rebounds. In Game 2 of the night, Ahkeem Boyd put on a shooting clinic, draining six 3-pointers (9 overall) in the first quarter as New Chapter Academy Warriors overwhelmed Guerreros De Dios 101-72. NCA dominated from beyond the arc, hitting 17 triples, while their smothering defense kept Guerreros from mounting a serious comeback. Boyd finished with 34 points and 8 rebounds, while Alfredo Rivas led Guerreros with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Action continued on Sunday, where Maloney Pacers secured a 78-63 victory over the Morvant Oilbirds in a tightly contested match on the second night of the tournament. The teams traded blows in the first half, with Pacers leading by slim margins. However, a dominant 23-8 third quarter surge by the Pacers gave them the cushion they needed. A spirited fourth-quarter rally by the Oilbirds wasn’t enough to close the gap, and Pacers took a much coveted win in the Transformed Group opening match. In Sunday's highly anticipated 2nd match, Caracas City faced up against Caledonia Clippers. Despite struggling to find rhythm early on, Clippers led the early preceding and held off a strong third-quarter push from Caracas to secure a 90-83 victory. Relying on squad depth, Clippers leaned on rising star Amaree Toney, who led the team with 19 points, while veteran Steven "Lighter" Lewis chipped in with 12 points and 7 rebounds. Caracas City made it close in the third, but the Clippers' poise down the stretch sealed the win.
