Revival continues with interesting results- November 28, 2024

Caracas City blanks Morvant Oilbirds, 48-41 Game one on Saturday night in the North Zone Revival Invitational at St. Paul Street Indoor Complex saw Caracas City with a hard fought 48-41 victory over Morvant Oilbirds. Both teams had previously lost their opening game. In the first quarter, they were evenly matched up with Oilbirds having a slender 10-9 lead. However, in the following session Oilbirds were limited to just three points as the period ended 19-13 for Caracas. In the third quarter, Oilbirds led by Timothy “Barry” Belgrave with a game high 14pts, rallied back as the period ended 30-30. In the decisive quarter, Caracas led by Hector Munoz with 11pts and Yohan Spec 10 held on for the victory as Oilbirds ran out of gas. Oilbirds missed point-blank lay-ups, free throws, had too many unforced errors and did not have the most efficient scoring game. That kind of shot selection and overall decision-making proved detrimental for Oilbirds in the end. Defence Force beat Spartans, 62-51 In the second game on Saturday, Jedidath enjoyed a game high 29pts as Defence Force blanked Spartans 62-51. The Army team controlled the first quarter 19-9. In the second period, Spartans, led by veteran Shorell Pompey with 10pts, rallied back to reduce the deficit 28-27. The third quarter, Defence Force regained control with the period ending 42-35. In the last session, Spartans were unable to match the Army battalion. Jalani Mapp added 14pts for the winners while Zachary Julien had 10pts in the losing effort. Caledonia Clippers destroys Caracas City, 87-59 In the first game on Sunday night, Clippers led by their youthful trio of next generation players Lashawn Alfred, Amaree Toney and Zion Vincent smashed Caracas City. Clippers led throughout the entire game 21-4, 44-17 & 65-35. All three players are sons of former national players with connections with to Clippers. Alfred scored a game high 27pts, Toney had 20pts and Vincent chipped in with 10 for the winners. Moya led Caracas with 17, Hector Munoz had 15 and Jose added 10pts. The Revival Invitational continues this weekend with two games every night in the Open Division. First up on Friday 30 November at 6:30 is a local rivalry featuring the two Morvant-based teams, Caledonia Clippers against Morvant Oilbirds. The second game features Defence Force versus Straker Nets at 8:00pm. Straker Nets dominates Police, 87- 59 In the second game, the local community based team Straker Nets scored a convincing victory over South Zone champions Police at St. Paul Street Indoor Complex. From the tip-off, Nets signaled their presence with a slender 15-13 advantage. In the second session, Nets led by Tristan Benjamin with a game high 17pts overpowered Police as the period ended in their favour 33-21. Nets, which also had support from Hakeem Morgan with 15pts and Sadiki Guerra 13, maintained their authority over Police with the third period ending 49-34. Wesley Vincent led Police with 9pts. The Revival Invitational continues this weekend with two games every night in the Open Division. On Saturday 30, Caracas City will look to bounce back against Spartans at 7:00pm. In the second game, Police will clash against Caledonia Clippers at 8:30pm. On Sunday, Straker Nets play Morvant Oilbirds in the first game. Afterwards, Defence Force battles Caracas City. |
