Royalty reigns over BBA in a North Zone thriller

In the game of week ending 8/6/2025, Royalty basketball team scored a nail-biting double overtime victory over Basic Basketball Academy (BBA). As action continued in the second week of the Kelvin Roberts North Zone Basketball Commission’s League First Division the two youthful teams treated fans to a wild and exciting sequence of action on June 3 at Woodbrook Youth Center.

Led by Khushaiah King with a team high 30pts, Royalty staged an incredible comeback in the closing minutes of regulation time to send the game into overtime. BBA had the opportunity to win the game after leading by as much as 8pts in the final quarter but they faltered due Royalty relentless pressure at both ends of the court and several costly unforced errors.

BBA, led by Adam Salazar with a game high 33pts, controlled the tempo for the first quarter 27-25. However, Royalty rallied back to lead 55-48. In the battle for supremacy, BBA regained controlled 71-66 at the end of third but failed to hold on as the game ended 89-89.

With fans from each team standing and rallying on their troops, the first overtime ended evenly in another thriller 102-102 although both teams had an opportunity to seal the win. The tension continued in the second OT period with both teams trading baskets. However, Khushaiah King was the decisive factor scoring the final three points to snatch the victory 112-109 for Royalty.

For Royalty, Jadaiah King contributed 30pts, Christian Gillineau 23pts and Jason Best chipped in with 20pts. For BBA, Jahmaul Graham supported with 21pts and Edwin Condoua had 16pts in a courageous losing effort.

In the second match of the night, Maloney Pacers smashed Morvant Oilbirds 74-47 in the supporting First Division game. Led by Tyrese Fields with a game high 22pts despite being in foul trouble and Shakiel Bertrand 21pts, Pacers controlled the contest, 18-18, 41-28 and 53-35 by the end of the third period. Antonio Ambris and Obel Guerra with 12pts apiece were the main contributors for Oilbirds.
