Spartans TT rebounded from their previous defeat, securing a decisive 87-68 victory against Royalty in the Kelvin Roberts North Zone Commission Basketball League, First Division, at the Woodbrook Youth Center on July 13.

Guided by Williams Francis, who delivered a game-high 26 points, Spartans exhibited dominance over their youthful adversaries, leading 31-18, 57-35, and 69-55 before ultimately cruising to an 87-68 triumph. Francis received commendable support from Jahiem Furlonge, who contributed 13 points, and Zachary Julien, who added 10 points.

Despite the setback, Royalty showcased commendable performances from Christian Gilleneau, who led his team with 18 points, followed by Jason Best with 12 points, Esan Babb with 11 points, while Khushaiah King and Kareem Prince each netted 10 points.

With this victory, Spartans improved their record to 3-4, whereas Royalty slipped to 3-3.

Shak Attack Vets lock down Prison Vets


In the inaugural game of the doubleheader, the Shak Attack Veterans demonstrated their superiority over the Prisons Veterans following a closely contested first quarter that concluded with a score of 10-10. From the second period onward, Shak Attack decisively asserted their dominance, never relinquishing their lead throughout the match. They commanded the scores with margins of 33-15, 46-33, and ultimately sealed their triumph with a final score of 58-43. Reynold Hospedales was the standout performer for the victors, contributing ten points in the low scoring encounter. For the Prisons, Kern Dottin emerged as the top scorer with 11 points, while Steve McSween added 10 points to his team's losing efforts.

July 10: Under 17

Spartans TT decisively depleted Coach KG Elite with a commanding score of 100-70

The Spartans maintained their lead throughout the contest, establishing margins of 22-16, 41-31, and 79-49 before comfortably securing their victory. In a remarkable display of teamwork, Williams Francis spearheaded the Spartans' offense with a game-high 35 points, while Zachary Julien contributed 23 points. Idris Martin added 12 points, and Jayden Small rounded out the scoring with 11 points. For the Elite, Joseph John Andrew led the way with 17 points, supported by Jervais Caracciolo with 15 points and Ori Iholo with 11 points in their valiant effort.

First Division:
Straker Nets Dominate Trailblazers

In the feature game of the double header, Straker Nets, rebounding from a challenging defeat against the Maloney Pacers, decisively overwhelmed a beleaguered Trailblazers team in the First Division clash.

The contest commenced with a sluggish pace, as the Nets established a modest six-point advantage in a low-scoring first quarter, 13-7. However, from the onset of the second period, the Nets escalated their momentum, extending their lead to 41-21. The Trailblazers were thoroughly outclassed, as the Nets amassed an impressive score of 73-32 in the third quarter, leaving the Trailblazers unable to contain their relentless offense, culminating in a final score of 101-40.

Shaquille Lewis spearheaded the Nets with an impressive 20 points, while Chike Augustine contributed 18 points and Sadiki Guerra added 13 points. Breon Sealey was the top scorer for the Trailblazers, netting 13 points, with Che Miller following closely behind with 11 points.

With this victory, Straker Nets improved their record to 5-1, solidifying their position in second place, trailing only the Pacers. Meanwhile, the Trailblazers fell to 0-7, remaining entrenched in the cellar of the standings.

July 8 - First Division

Basic Basketball Academy decisively overwhelms Spartans TT in a pivotal contest.


Spartans TT, recently buoyed by a momentous triumph against Coach KG Elite, were left reeling on July 8, suffering a staggering defeat at the hands of the Basic Basketball Academy (BBA), with a final score of 108-67. In a contest where both teams were vying for a crucial win to sustain their playoff aspirations, the Spartans initially seized control of the tempo, concluding the first quarter with a 27-21 advantage. However, BBA mounted a formidable comeback and never relinquished the lead thereafter.

In the second quarter, propelled by the stellar performance of Adam Salazar, who contributed 7 points during the period, BBA outscored their opponents 29-5, establishing a commanding 50-32 lead by halftime. Salazar proved to be an unstoppable force for his team, finishing with a game-high 27 points as BBA continued their relentless dominance, never looking back. The third quarter concluded with a score of 86-45 as BBA cruised towards a vital victory. Salazar received ample support from Jahmaul Graham, who added 11 points, while Jacoba Benjamin chipped in with 10 points.

Despite the loss, the Spartans showcased several commendable performances, with their young point guard Zachary Julien leading all scorers with 29 points. Jahiem Furlonge contributed 17 points, and Idris Martin added 12 points in a valiant effort.

With this victory, BBA improved their record to 3-3, while the Spartans fell to 2-4.

Maloney Pacers edge Royalty 71-68


In a fiercely contested encounter, the Maloney Pacers secured a decisive victory over Royalty in the opening game of the doubleheader on July 8. The match was characterized by numerous lead changes, with the Pacers initially leading the first quarter 16-14, while Royalty held a narrow advantage at halftime, 29-26. As the third period unfolded, Royalty managed to establish a four-point lead, 53-49, as they entered the final quarter. However, propelled by their standout performer, Nkobie Ince, who contributed 11 points during the session, the Pacers mounted a formidable rally to clinch a hard-fought 71-68 triumph.

Ince was the standout for his team, registering a commanding 28 points, while Kanyr George added 14 points to the tally. For Royalty, Jason Best delivered an impressive performance, amassing a game-high 32 points, with Isiah Mitchell contributing 12 points in a valiant effort that ultimately fell short.
