Morvant Oilbirds secured a resounding victory, annihilating the Togetherness basketball team with a season-high score of 109-59 in the opening match of a First Division doubleheader of the Kelvin Roberts North Zone Commission Basketball League, held at the Woodbrook Youth Center on July 26. This commanding win elevated the Oilbirds' regular season record to 5-3, while their adversaries languished at 1-6.

Despite initially trailing 2-6 in the opening minutes, the Oilbirds gradually seized control, propelled by the efforts of guard Kevon Williams, who contributed 11 points. By the conclusion of the first quarter, they surged ahead to a 19-15 lead. Subsequently, the Oilbirds executed relentless pressure on Togetherness, outscoring them 36-13 and extending their advantage to 55-28. In the third quarter, Togetherness, led by forward Tyler Hyndman, who shared the game-high with 27 points, mounted a more formidable performance; however, Oilbirds maintained a substantial lead of 74-51 heading into the final quarter. In the concluding segment, the Oilbirds dominated their opponents, restricting them to a mere 8 points while amassing 35 points themselves, thus securing their largest offensive total and margin of victory.

For Oilbirds, Williams also netted 27 points, including four three-pointers, while Antonio Ambris and Obel Guerra each contributed 18 points, and Rashwan Hope added 10 points to the tally. Timothy Belgrave, a former member of Oilbirds, scored 21 points in a valiant but ultimately futile effort.
