D’ABADIE, Trinidad — One loss was all Leads Lead Maloney Pacers needed to reset.

After dropping Game 1, the Pacers responded like champions, ripping off back-to-back wins over the Trinidad & Tobago Police Service to secure the National Basketball Federation of Trinidad & Tobago (NBFTT) Club Championship in emphatic fashion over the weekend at the Maloney Indoor Sports Arena.

Game 2 set the tone. Game 3 slammed the door.

Maloney delivered a statement on Saturday night, overwhelming Police 106-61 to even the best-of-three series. Shakiel Bertrand led the charge with 33 points, while Ahkeel Boyd added 27 and Ronaldhino Estatas chipped in 20 in a relentless offensive display.

Police never found their footing. Don Wilkson scored 23 in defeat, with Fabrice Fisher adding 12 and Dextroy Manswell 10, but the contest was long out of reach.

If Game 2 was a warning, Game 3 was a coronation.

The Pacers came out firing Sunday and never let up, blowing past Police 101-77 to clinch the title. Maloney dominated from the opening quarter, racing to a 31-12 lead and maintaining control the rest of the way.

Even when Police showed signs of life in the second period, the Pacers’ cushion held firm. By the end of the third, the lead had ballooned to 79-58, leaving little doubt about the outcome.

Boyd delivered a masterpiece in the finale, erupting for 48 points, which included a record breaking eleven threes, to lead all scorers, while Bertrand added 21 in support. For Police, Fisher had 21, Mikahail Williams scored 17 and Manswell finished with 16, but they were chasing the game throughout.

In the end, Maloney’s response to adversity defined the series — turning a Game 1 setback into a dominant championship run in just 48 hours.

Southside Elite claim third place

Earlier on Saturday, Southside Elite secured third place with a hard-fought 90-84 win over Straker Nets.

Elite led at every quarter break, but had to fend off repeated pushes from the Nets, who were powered by Sadiki Guerra’s 30 points and Triston Benjamin’s 20.

Tyrik Singh paced a balanced Elite effort with 11 points, as his side held steady down the stretch to close out the six-point victory.
