New Chapter Global Sport Academy (NCGA) is celebrating a major achievement as student-athlete Jameela James has committed to Saint Louis University, where she will continue both her academic and basketball journey at the NCAA Division I level.
The former St. James Secondary School standout has established herself as one of Trinidad and Tobago's premier female basketball prospects. Standing 6-foot-5, James has attracted international attention with her size, mobility, shot-blocking ability, rebounding presence, and steadily improving offensive game. According to an NCGA press release, James' journey has been defined by consistent growth, sacrifice, and discipline. From competing locally in Trinidad and Tobago to gaining experience in U.S. prep and high school basketball, she developed into a dominant force in the paint during her time at Shining Stars Sports Academy and St. Mary's Ryken High School. During her senior season, James averaged 13.8 points, 12.3 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game, highlighting her impact as a powerful interior player. Her commitment also serves as a reminder that athletes from Trinidad and Tobago and the wider Caribbean can earn top collegiate opportunities through talent, discipline, and exposure. For NCGA, the milestone reflects its commitment to identifying talent, supporting athletes holistically, and creating pathways to opportunities in the United States and beyond. Coach KG and the New Chapter family believe James' accomplishment will inspire the next generation of female athletes throughout the region. “Jameela's story is one of perseverance, faith, and hard work. She trusted the process, embraced development, and stayed committed to the vision. We are proud of her and excited for what lies ahead at Saint Louis University.” |
