PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad June 4, 2026 Trinidad & Tobago Defence Force (TTDF) turned a tight contest into a convincing victory on Thursday night, outscoring Basic Basketball Academy (BBA) in the second half to secure a 91-75 win in Men's First Division action of the Lincoln “Cripple” Griffith North Zone Basketball League at the Woodbrook Youth Facility. The victory improved TTDF's record to 2-1, while BBA slipped to 0-2 on the season. BBA controlled the early stages of the game and held a narrow 21-20 lead after the opening quarter. The Academy maintained its advantage at halftime, carrying a 40-38 lead into the break after a closely contested first half. TTDF responded after the interval with its best stretch of basketball. Led by veteran Kerry McMillan and Jedidiah Celestine, Defence Force outscored BBA 21-13 in the third quarter to take a 59-53 lead. The military side continued to dictate play in the final period, pulling away with a dominant 32-point fourth-quarter effort to complete the 16-point win. McMillan finished with a game-high 21 points to lead TTDF, while Celestine added 14 points. Christian Arthur contributed 11 points and Kendall Latmore chipped in with 10. For BBA, Luke Mobhair paced the offense with 16 points. Adam Salazar added 12 points, while Israel Sylvester and Edwon Cardova scored 10 points each. UTT established control from the opening tip and steadily increased its lead throughout the contest, leading 23-13 after the first quarter, 47-22 at halftime, and 71-30 heading into the fourth. Kristian Alexander led all scorers with 26 points for the Patriots. Dario Lara added 15 points, while Jevan Bailey contributed 12. Emannel Manners was the lone bright spot for the Academy, finishing with 14 points. Quarter Scores: UTT led throughout 23-13, 47-22, 71-30, 88-36. Coach KG Elite Dominates Trailblazers Coach KG Elite maintained control from start to finish in another Men's Second Division matchup, defeating Trailblazers 86-56. Elite raced out to a 22-9 first-quarter advantage and never looked back, extending the margin to 49-24 by halftime before cruising to the comfortable victory. Cristian Farum scored a team-high 18 points, while Toalib Daniel and JJ Edwards-Caracciola each added 14 points. Trailblazers were led by Che Peniston-Miller's 19 points and Stephen Edwards' 16. Lance Crouch erupted for 33 points as Coach KG Elite rallied in the second half to defeat Royalty 86-73 in the opening Under-17 fixture. Elite led 26-18 after the first quarter, but Royalty responded to take a 43-40 halftime lead and carried a 67-63 advantage into the final period. Crouch spearheaded a strong fourth-quarter comeback as Elite outscored Royalty 23-6 down the stretch. Jurell Charles added 11 points for Elite, while Azarion Ferguson and Terrell Lewis scored 10 points apiece. Royalty was led by Jakeem King's 25 points and Kimani John's 22, while Justin Thomas and Jaquin Sirron each contributed 11 and 10 points respectively. |
