Jordan Murphy (201-F-97) became the Gophers' all-time leading rebounder as Minnesota remained unbeaten with an 80-66 win over Santa Clara on Tuesday night.

The Gophers (4-0) struggled to shake the Broncos (0-4) on the second day of the Vancouver Showcase but finally pulled away in the final five minutes. Minnesota will close out the tournament Wednesday against Washington (4-1), which edged Texas A&M 71-67 on Tuesday.

The former Virgin Islands Junior national team member had 17 rebounds to move past Gophers legends Kevin McHale and Bahamian Michael Thompson into first place in career rebounds. He now has 961 to Thompson's 956 and McHale's 950.

'It's a really big accomplishment. Really humbling. It's definitely something that I'm really proud of,' the senior power forward said. The Gophers face Washington in the final game of the tournament on Wednesday.

Nicolas Claxton (211-SF-99) and Georgia will face Georgia State in the third-place consolation game of the Cayman Islands Classic on Wednesday at 6:00pm. The bulldogs dropped a tough game to Clemson, 64-49, on Tuesday. Claxton did much of his damage after the intermission. He scored 14 second-half points and also hauled in a game-high 11 rebounds for his second double-double of the young season. Not to be lost in the box score, Claxton also dished out a career-high four assists.

Brooklyn ends Nicolas Claxton's draft wait with first pick in NBA second round - 3 days ago
Nicolas Claxton (211-SF-99)'s decision to leave Georgia after his sophomore season looked shrewd leading up to the NBA draft with all of the buzz that he'd go in the first round. Claxton's patience was tested Thursday night as he waited in the 'green room' of the Barclays Center and that goal of his didn't materialize. He slipped to the first pick of the second round before draft host Brooklyn selected him with the No. 31 overall pick. 'I just want to show people I can play,' Claxton sa...   [read more]
