Quennel Francis (183-PG) shattered his career bests with a 41-point effort to help the Fire down Florida Memorial 118-72.

Francis set a new program record for successful 3-point attempts with 11, smashing the previous mark of eight, last done by Andre' Winston in 2015. He came up just three points shy of matching the program's single game scoring record.

"We've seen it in practice several times," said coach R-Jay Barsh. "He just really brought it tonight and everyone wanted to see him be successful. At this point in the year, you need another guy to step up for you and he definitely stepped up tonight."

Entering Thursday's game, Francis had scored 48 total points this season and was 8-of-16 from 3-point range. Despite missing his first two field goal attempts, Francis kept his confidence up and knocked down his next five shots, helping the Fire build a 60-27 lead at halftime.

"I got the opportunity and maximized it," said Francis. "My teammates believed in me, my coach believed in me, and I just rolled with it. We wanted to make this a memorable Senior Night and we played for each other."

The senior followed up that effort with 20 points to help the No. 20 Southeastern men's basketball team clinched a bye in the first round of the Sun Conference Tournament thanks to a 77-59 victory over St. Thomas University Saturday night. With the win, SEU secured its second straight 20-win season, ending the regular season with a 20-8 (13-5 TSC) record.

Jordan Murphy moves to second on Minnesota's all-time scoring list during win over Louisville - 14 hours ago
Jordan Murphy (201-F-97) continues to make history at Minnesota. Murphy played a huge role in the Gophers' 86-76 victory over Louisville in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, scoring 18 points and grabbing six rebounds in the win. It marked the first tournament win for Minnesota under head coach Richard Pitino and the first tournament victory since 2013 for the program. But Murphy made a little personal history, moving up to No. 2 on Minnesota's all-time scoring list on Thursday. H...   [read more]

Murphy comes to the twilight of his memorable career with Gophers - 1 day ago
DES MOINES, Iowa - With a casual gait, Jordan Murphy(201-F-97) led the Gophers men's basketball players onto the court for the team's shootaround Wednesday at Wells Fargo Center. The senior forward also was the last to leave. This isn't a surprise. During his four seasons at Minnesota, Murphy has never missed a practice. Not for a twisted ankle, dislocated finger, a random bout with the flu, or most likely, the accumulation of bumps and bruises (or something worse) from the banging he ex...   [read more]
