   #1. This week's number one is an international guard Deon Edwin (190-92, agency: Interperformances, college: Kent St., currently plays in Ukraine). He led Khimik to a victory over one of league's weakest teams Cherkasy (6-13) 86-82 in the Ukrainian Superleague in Thursday night's game. Edwin was MVP of the game. He had a double-double by scoring 31 points and getting 10 rebounds. Edwin also added 9 assists in 31 minutes on the court; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his second season in pro basketball. BK Khimik-OPZ Yuhzny (18-6) is placed first in the Superleague. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. It's Edwin's first year with the team. Edwin has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 16.3ppg, 6.0rpg, 4.5apg, 1.6spg, 2FGP: 61.6%(125-203), 3FGP: 32.7% and FT: 70.6% in 24 games he played so far. Edwin is currently a member of the U.S. Virgin Islands senior national team.

Jamaal Samuel

   #2. Second place goes to an international forward Jamaal Samuel (206-93, college: La-Monroe, currently plays in Mexico). He could not help Huracanes (6-33) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Samuel's very good performance the seventh-placed Huracanes (6-33) was crushed 108-86 at home by the second-ranked Mineros in the North group. He was the second best scorer with 25 points. Samuel also added 8 rebounds. The Regular Season already ended. Samuel has relatively good stats this season: 14.5ppg, 5.6rpg, 1.6apg, 1.2spg, 2FGP: 41.5%, 3FGP: 37.8% and FT: 61.9%. He has a dual citizenship: U.S. Virgin Islands and American. Samuel is in the roster of the U.S. Virgin Islands senior national team.

Jordan Murphy

   #3. The U.S. Virgin Islands player who performed third best last week abroad was former international forward Jordan Murphy (201-97, currently plays college basketball in the States). He contributed to an easy victory against the Indiana University crushing them 84-63 in the NCAA on Saturday night. Murphy had a double-double by scoring 23 points and getting 11 rebounds. He also added 3 assists in 30 minutes. The University of Minnesota has 4-3 conference record this season. Murphy is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Minnesota's roster. This season Murphy has relatively solid stats: 15.0ppg, 11.9rpg, 2.7apg, 2FGP: 51.7%, 3FGP: 23.5% and FT: 69.7% in 26 games. He is another player who holds two passports: U.S. Virgin Islands and American. Murphy played for the U.S. Virgin Islands national team three years ago.

   #4. Small forward Nicolas Claxton (211-99, currently studies in the States), who plays in the NCAA was not able to help the Georgia (1-4) in their last game. Despite his very good performance his team lost 79-83 on the road to the Louisiana State University. Claxton scored 17 points, had 6 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 34 minutes. Claxton has reliable stats this year: 12.7ppg, 9.0rpg, 2.1apg, 2.5bpg and 1.2spg in 26 games. He is also U.S. Virgin Islands national team player.

   #5. International forward LaRon Smith (204-93, college: Auburn, currently plays in Bulgaria) contributed to Yambol's victory against the closely-ranked Rilski (9-7) 87-78 in the Bulgarian NBL on Wednesday night. He scored 8 points, had 11 rebounds and made 4 blocks. Tundja Yambol (6-10) is placed seventh in the NBL. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Smith's stats this season are: 12.4ppg, 8.8rpg and 3.8bpg. He has both American and U.S. Virgin Islands nationalities. Worth to mention Smith played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball. Smith plays currently for the U.S. Virgin Islands national team.

   #6. Forward Justin Gray (198-95, college: Texas Tech, currently plays in United Kingdom) was not able to secure a victory for Bristol Acadamy Flyers (7-1) in their last game. Despite his good performance the league leader Bristol Acadamy Flyers lost 83-90 in Leicester to the second-ranked Riders. Gray recorded 13 points in 37 minutes. Gray's stats this year are: 13.1ppg, 3.5rpg, 2.3apg, 1.3bpg and 1.2spg in 16 games. He is an international player who is currently on the senior U.S. Virgin Islands National Team roster.

   #7. International guard Kyle Clarke (196-95, is currently at the American university) couldn't help the Kennesaw St. (0-4) in their game against the David Lipscomb University (0-4) in the NCAA. He cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. Clarke scored only 3 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 29 minutes. his team was badly defeated 83-67 in Nashville by the David Lipscomb University. So far Kennesaw St. lost all four games in the conference There are only three games left until the end of the NCAA Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Clarke has been at the team for four years. This season his overall stats are: 4.7ppg, 3.0rpg and 1.4apg in 26 games. Clarke is also U.S. Virgin Islands national team player.

Rashawn Fredericks

   #8. Swingman Rashawn Fredericks (196-96, currently plays college basketball in the States) managed to help University of Cincinnati to win against the Wichita State University (0-5) 72-62 in the NCAA in Sunday night's game. He recorded only 3 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. The University of Cincinnati has 3-2 conference record this season. It's Fredericks' first year with the team. Fredericks' total stats this year are: 2.7ppg and 2.4rpg. He used to play for the U.S. Virgin Islands national team back in 2017.

   #9. International guard Stephaun Adams (185-96, currently plays in NAIA) contributed to a Campbellsville University's surprising victory against the Georgetown College 80-71 in the NAIA on Thursday night. He scored 22 points, had 4 boards, passed 7 assists and added 3 steals. The Campbellsville University has quite an impressive - record this season. This year Adams has very high stats. He averages: 17.9ppg, 5.1rpg, 4.6apg and 2.2spg. Adams is also in the roster of the U.S. Virgin Islands national team.


The list of other players, who all have U.S. Virgin Islands passport but never been selected to any of U.S. Virgin Islands national teams:

   #1. John Collins (208-PF-97, college: Wake Forest, currently plays in NBA). He could not help the Atlanta Hawks (19-39) to beat the New York Knicks (11-47). Collins scored 8 points. The Atlanta Hawks (19-39) were defeated 106-91 on the road by the New York Knicks. Collins has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 19.1ppg, 9.5rpg and 2.1apg. Collins has a dual citizenship: U.S. Virgin Islands and American.

   #2. De'Quon Lake (208-F, currently plays college basketball in the States) managed to help Arizona State University to win against the Stanford University 80-62 in the NCAA last Wednesday. Lake recorded only 3 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. The Arizona State University has a solid 4-2 conference record this season. There are only four games left until the end of the NCAA Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Lake's overall stats this season are: 4.4ppg and 4.1rpg.

   #3. Quennel Francis (183-PG, currently plays in NAIA) led Southeastern University to an easy victory against the Saint Thomas University (10-8) 77-59 in the NAIA last Saturday. Francis scored 20 points in 27 minutes. The Southeastern University has a very good 10-1 record this season. The Regular Season already ended in the NAIA. This year Francis averages only 5.9ppg in 16 games he played so far.

  



Pan American Games Draw LIMA, PERU - 1 day ago
FIBA held the draw for groups for men's basketball of the Pan American Games in Lima 2019, leaving the Virgin Islands in group A with Puerto Rico, Venezuela and the United States. A select team of men's basketball standouts from the BIG EAST Conference will represent the United States at the 2019 Pan American Game while Puerto Rico will be sending their B team as their A team is set to play in the World Games.
