Friday night at Eisenhower, Sincere Callwood and the No. 3 Wolverines (now 20-14) finished an incredible playoff gauntlet of Brother Rice, Marian Catholic and then Homewood-Flossmoor still intact, still alive, and headed to a Super-Sectional for the fifth straight season. Callwood, an ultra-athletic junior forward, had 11 rebounds holding No. 13 Homewood-Flossmoor (23-9) to 28.6 percent shooting from the floor in a 58-43 victory. Simeon will face No. 1-ranked Curie (33-1) next Tuesday in the Super-Sectional at Northwestern's Welsh-Ryan Arena. It's an extremely difficult matchup, no doubt. But it's also barely more than par for the course for the Wolverines at this point.

Jordan Murphy (201-F-97) finished the regular season the only way he knows with a double double. Murphy, a senior forward, had 14 point and ten rebounds but it wasn't enough as Minnesota (19-12, 9-11)was narrowly defeated by No. 24 Maryland (22-9, 13-7 Big Ten) 69-60 on Friday night.
The Terrapins led by 12 at halftime, stretched the margin to 19 in the opening three minutes of the second half and went up 54-32 with 13 minutes left. The Golden Gophers are a different team on the road, a problem that is not unique in the Big Ten. Minnesota finished 13-3 at home and 2-9 on the road, including 2-8 in the conference. Minnesota open play on Thursday in the Big Ten Tournament at the United Center in Chicago.

JUCO D2
Robelto James (185-G-98) and Guilford Tech (24-5) defeated Bryant & Stratton, 93-76, Friday evening. GTCC advances to Region X Conference Championship game tomorrow at 2:00 PM and will play host team Wake Tech. The winner of the Region 10 tournament receives the District XIV automatic bid to the National Tournament. Regular Season champion Pitt Community College has clinched the District XV title. The DII National Tournament will be played in Danville, Illinois on March 19-23 in the Mary Miller Center.

Claxton: I would love to play with UGA's incoming class - 3 days ago
By CHANCE LINTON Georgia forward Nicolas Claxton (211-SF-99) was on hand in Chicago last week for the 2019 NBA Draft Combine, but he's facing a major decision in the coming week. Claxton declared for the NBA Draft following a breakout sophomore season, but he still hasn't made a final decision on whether to return to Georgia for his junior year. The deadline for him to withdraw from the draft and retain his college eligibility is May 29. Ahead of the NBA Combine, he sat down with Draft...   [read more]

NBA Draft Combine Notebook: Nicolas Claxton Displays Versatility - 6 days ago
CHICAGO - The on-court portion of the draft combine wrapped up on Friday, with two more scrimmages giving prospects a chance to perform in front of the entire league. As a whole, five-on-five play was heavily watered down this year as a vast majority of potential first-round picks opted not to play, aiming to protect their draft stock. Regardless, there were a number of intriguing players who benefited this week. There were also some guys who struggled. Some of the more noteworthy perform...   [read more]
