Vanterpool
With the playoffs off and rolling, the Cleveland Cavaliers are still expected to interview several assistant coaches who are part of staffs of teams involved in the postseason, including Alex Jensen of Utah and David Vanterpool (195-G/F-73, college: St.Bonaventure) of Portland, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Vanterpool, 46, played professionally in China, Italy and Russia. He played with the Washington Wizards for 22 games in 2001. He was an assistant coach with CSKA Moscow from 2007-12 before being hired as an assistant with the Trail Blazers.

Vanterpool was a candidate for vacancies in Orlando and Charlotte last year, but both teams chose other coaches. If nothing else, his travels as a player and coach allow him to identify with players who must work hard for what they get.

'You're never done working,' Vanterpool told HoopsHype earlier this year. 'There's always something that can be done - always. This job is 24/7. I like to use the saying, 'Every day is Wednesday to me. It doesn't matter what the day is or what the date is. All that matters is whether we have a game or don't.'

The Trail Blazers are in the playoffs. Portland is seeded third in the West and plays Oklahoma City in the first round.

The Utah Jazz didn't go down without a fight, but the result was the same regardless. The Jazz were downed by the Houston Rockets 100-93 to lose the series 4-1, ending Utah's season. Houston completed the gentlemen's sweep and, as was the theme for the Jazz in this series, they will see plenty of missed opportunities to extend their postseason run when they watch the tape on this one. After allowing a 10-0 run to start the second half, Utah faced a 12-point deficit early in the third. Th...   [read more]

John Collins
Eight Things We Learned About Collins' Sophomore Season - 4 hours ago
1) John Collins (208-PF-97, college: Wake Forest) dunked and dunked and dunked. In 61 games played, Collins finished the season tenth in the NBA with 157 dunks. He is, without question, a breathtaking dunker. VIDEO 2) John had an ultra-rare season. For the season, Collins averaged 19.5 points and 9.8 rebounds per game, while shooting 56.0 percent from the field and 34.8 percent from the field. In the history of the NBA, only two players have averaged 19+ points per game and 9+ rebounds pe...   [read more]

Hodge and Homenetmen season comes to an end - 2 days ago
Walter Hodge(183-PG-86, college: Florida) and Homenetmen season came to an end after falling to Beirut, 96-91, Tuesday evening in the Lebanese Basketball League. Beirut won the series three games to one over the defending champions. Beirut trailed for the majority of proceedings in Mezher before producing a 28-point fourth quarter to steal Game 4 and set up a finals meeting with Riyadi. Homenetmen would have done their fair share of soul searching after Game 3's embarrassing blowout loss...   [read more]
