As San Antonio celebrates Fiesta, they can add another celebration to their list - Tim Duncan (211-F/C-76, college: Wake Forest)'s birthday! The GOAT turns 43 today.

Since his retirement in 2016 from the San Antonio Spurs, the basketball legend has been up to several things. For instance, he took up kickboxing. He's rocking a new hair-do and was recently photographed with pop star Austin Mahone.

The greatest Spur makes random appearances at games and practices, but overall has maintained his private lifestyle with longtime girlfriend Vanessa Macias and his three children.

1. Duncan was introduced to basketball when his older sister, Cheryl, shipped him a pole and basketball backboard in 1988. At the time, Tim Duncan was 12 and lived in the Virgin Islands, while Cheryl Duncan lived in Ohio with her husband, NBA player Ricky Lowry. When Hurricane Hugo devastated the islands in 1989, the basketball hoop was one of few items left standing.

2. Tim Duncan was moved up a grade when he was 8 years old, making him younger than his classmates throughout his year of education.

3. Tim Duncan's first choice for sports was swimming, and grew up in the Virgin Islands dreaming of becoming an Olympic swimmer. The dream ended when Hurricane Hugo hit St. Croix in 1989, which destroyed the only Olympic-sized pool in the area. In effect, the team was forced to practice in the ocean, but Duncan declined due to is fear of sharks.

4. Tim Duncan holds the Virgin Islands record in the 50-and 100-meter freestyle events for swimming, and was a nationally ranked swimmer in the U.S. in the 400-meter freestyle by 13 years old. His sister, Tricia, represented the Virgin Islands while swimming in the 100- and 200-meter backstroke in the 1988 Olympics.

5. Tim Duncan started playing basketball competitively during his freshman year of high school at St. Dunstan's Episcopal High School in St. Croix, United States Virgin Islands. By his senior year, he grew 10 inches and averaged 25 points per game.

6. His director and a cinematographer brother, Scott Duncan, has won 10 Emmy Awards.

7. Tim Duncan earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Wake Forest in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and is one of few NBA prospects to attend all four years of college.

8. He is somewhat of a geek. He loves video games, comics and Dungeons & Dragons.

9. While in college, Tim Duncan took a psychology research methods class and co-authored a scholarly journal, "Blowhards, snobs, and narcissists: Interpersonal reactions to excessive egotism," with his professor.

10. According to buzzfeed, he once paid Brent Barry $100 to kiss David Stern. It was during the ring ceremony for the Spurs 2005 Championship.

11. At Wake Forest, Duncan was named an All-American his junior and senior year, and was the NCAA player of the year his senior year.

12. According to Sports Illustrated, Duncan loves paintball. He would often treats teammates to afternoons of it.

13. Tim Duncan's favorite food to fuel his 6 feet 11 inch body is steak and shrimp, according to a Q&A on his website,

14. While it seems like Tim Duncan is fearless on the basketball court, he does have two all-time hates: Sharks and heights.

15. His favorite NBA team is the Spurs, of course, but his second-favorite professional sports team is the Chicago Bulls.

16. He has several tattoos. Here is a look at one on the back of his shoulder peeking out from behind his jersey.

17. He has been in more stories (37) on satire site The Onion, than any other Spurs player.

18. He owns BlackJack Speed Shop, a custom car body shop in San Antonio.

19. Has never "hugged it out" with referee Joey Crawford over that one little incident.

20. He's dating Vanessa Macias, a former reality TV star and radio personality.

21. Duncan has won five NBA titles, two NBA MVPs, three NBA Finals MVPs and is one of only three players in NBA history to win more than 1,000 career regular season games, and all in just 19 years.
