Walter Hodge
By Jorge Figueroa Loza, El Nuevo Dia

Arecibo - Walter Hodge (183-PG-86, college: Florida) admits that he does not mix his personal life with his work as a hooper.

And last year, the stellar base demonstrated this by guiding the Arecibo Captains to the National Superior Basketball Championship (BSN) against the Vaqueros de Bayamon , after the First Stay Court of Aguadilla did not find cause for trial in August. of 2018 due to the case of gender violence that was against him.

Hodge was declared the Most Valuable Player of the championship series against the Cowboys after averaging 21.7 points and 6.3 rebounds in six games.

Last night, Hodge joined the Captains, this time, without the worry of last year.

"None of that affected me. I think I played a spectacular tournament, "Hodge told El Nuevo Dia prior to the game against the Piratas de Quebradillas at the Coliseo Manuel" Petaca "Iguina on Thursday. "Personal problems do not affect me in my work. I think I've always separated it since I was little. Obviously, it's a relief to get out there and be fine. There are always ridiculous people who say things without knowing. But it's something I've always had and I love having those people talking to shut them up. "

Hodge, 32, will participate in his sixth season with the Captains. For this tournament, you will meet a quintet that has won six of its last seven games (not counting Thursday's match against Quebradillas) after losing nine of 10 games. Until yesterday, they had a 13-13 mark to occupy fifth place in the table. "That's part of the season. I think all the teams are in the same boat unlike Quebradillas and Aguada, who have fewer losses. But everyone is equal, they are playing at the same level. When laliga progresses, the teams hire better reinforcements and the best players arrive. The expectations are the same: win a championship. We have a more reinforced team. It is done differently, but the same is done, "he said.

The Captains have in their ranks this year with new personnel such as post Carlos "Yao" Lopez, as well as center Devon Collier and base Jezreel de Jesus, who arrived at the team earlier this month in a trade with the Mayagueez Indians. With the additions of Denis Clemente and David Huertas, all that remains is for the import Devon Jefferson to report.

"I come to contribute what I can contribute. They are already playing at a different rhythm to mine. It's a matter of adapting to them and helping as much as I can, "he said.

Return to Lebanon

Hodge amassed 22 points, 7.0 assists and 3.4 rebounds with the Homentmen club in Lebanon , a team that was eliminated in the semifinals.

Hodge admitted that he is comfortable in the Lebanese league, which is why he signed an extension of three seasons with the club.

" I had a good season. I was the import of the year. Less games were played this year, so it was a bit easy to stay in shape and not get so tired. I come back again, I signed for three years and I'm happy with that, "Hodge declared to conclude.

NBA Draft Combine Notebook: Nicolas Claxton Displays Versatility - 5 days ago
CHICAGO - The on-court portion of the draft combine wrapped up on Friday, with two more scrimmages giving prospects a chance to perform in front of the entire league.
