The United Cup Board of Directors have confirmed the event date (s) for the 2022 United Cup of Champions. The tournament will be held from January 20th - January 24th, 2022 in Santiago, Dominican Republic, marking their return to Santiago Top League.
Santiago is one of the more competitive leagues on the island. Representing the local team (s) will be La Vega and Santiago. Panteras de Mexicali (Mexico) will make their United Cup debut after making a mark in Mexico in the past. Their first order of business was signing import player Toccara Ross (184-F-86, college: Toronto, agency: LBM Management). Last season Ross averaged 19.0ppg and 9.2rpg. She would be named Latinbasket.com All-United Cup Forward of the Year.
"We are excited about having Mexico coming to Santiago", said UC board member Jo Fabian Jr. This will be a very big deal in Santiago. We are ready for the best tournament on the island.
The league has announce the other three clubs as they qualify for the tournament. Front runners for the final spots include Mexico (LMBPF), El Salvador (Liga Superior) and USA (Women's Universal Basketball Association).
