Atletico Bigua Montevideo (LUB) re-signed experienced 38-year old guard Martin Osimani (194-81, college: Duquesne, agency: Pro Sports). He played there last season. In 31 LUB games he recorded 10.2ppg, 3.3rpg, 7.0apg (top 2) and 1.4spg. Great season indeed as he was voted to All-Uruguay LUB Honorable Mention.
Osimani ended the previous (2017-18) season at Boca Juniors (LigaA) in Argentinian league where in 19 games he averaged 6.4ppg, 2.1rpg, 3.2apg and 1.1spg. But the most of that year he spent at Defensor. In 20 LUB games he had 8.9ppg, 2.5rpg and 6.4apg.
Among other achievements Osimani's team won Uruguay LUB Regular Season in 2008 and 2016.
He represented Uruguay at the South American Championships in Isla Margarita (Venezuela) five years ago. Osimani's team won Bronze and his stats at that event were 5 games: 5.2ppg, 3.0rpg, Assists-1 (3.6apg), FGP: 12.5%, 3PT: 38.5%, FT: 70.0%.
Osimani is a very experienced player. Thanks to his pro career he managed to play on three different continents (Europe, Latin America and of course North America) in seven different countries. Osimani has played previously professionally in Brazil (Brasilia), Italy (Fabriano), Mexico (Halcones UV Xalapa, Soles and Halcones UV Cordoba), Puerto Rico (Atleticos), Argentina (Penarol) and Venezuela (Trotamundos).
It may be one of last seasons in his extensive career, which he may end at Bigua.
Osimani attended University of Duquesne until 2005 and it will be his 15th (!!!) season in pro basketball.
The scouts decsribe him following way: An athletic guard who attacks the basket and shoots from mid-range, has great personality and leadership at both sides of the court. Great defender on the perimeter, he excels in steals and interceptions.
