Malvin claims LFB 2026 championship with Game 5 victory over Defensor Sporting

Malvin claimed the 2026 LFB championship with a 68-52 victory over Defensor Sporting in the decisive Game 5 at Estadio Larre Borges on Saturday.
Malvin controlled the game from the second quarter onward, outscoring Defensor Sporting 21-15 in the second period and never relinquishing the lead, closing out quarters of 32-20 at halftime and 49-39 through three periods before finishing the game strong with a 19-13 fourth quarter.
Carla Miculka (174-F-1993) was dominant inside, finishing with 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting and a game-high 14 rebounds for a double-double. Agustina Marin (170-SG-2003) added 20 points, while Carolina Fernandez (186-G-2003) contributed 10 points and 5 assists. Aldana Gayoso (168-PG-2000) chipped in 11 points off the bench as Malvin shot 46% from the field and out-rebounded Defensor Sporting 37-39...
Actually, let me restate that cleanly: Malvin shot 41.4% from the field as a team and finished with a 37-39 disadvantage on the glass, but made up for it with efficient scoring inside from Miculka and a balanced attack across the roster. Schekinah Bimpa (180-F-1998, college: Limestone) led Defensor Sporting with 18 points on a highly efficient 7-of-11 shooting, adding 12 rebounds for a double-double of his own. Gianina Tiscornia (166-SG-2002) added 12 points off the bench, and Camila Suarez (178-SG-2000) chipped in 9 points and 5 assists, but Defensor Sporting could not overcome Malvin's balanced scoring in the decisive game of the series.
