Round 5 most important game was a victory of Malvin over 7th ranked Trouville 71-59 on Thursday night. 25 personal fouls committed by Trouville helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Greek Fotios Lampropoulos (206-83) orchestrated the victory by scoring 25 points and 9 rebounds. Naturalized Brazilian center Hatila Passos (211-85, college: N.Mexico St.) contributed with 16 points and 9 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. American center Paul Harrison (203-89, college: N.Greenville) answered with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 18 rebounds for Trouville. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion (3-2) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Olimpia. Trouville at the other side dropped to the eighth position with three games lost. They share it with 3 other teams.

Joaquin Osimani nailed 21 points and 9 assists for the winning side. Duke Crews came up with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 16 rebounds and 7 assists for Sayago in the defeat. Bigua moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Sayago still closes the standings with five games lost.

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Montevideo: Atenas (#12) and Urunday Univ. (#9). Urunday Univ. was defeated at home 81-85 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Strangely Urunday Univ. outrebounded Atenas 47-35 including 32 on the defensive glass. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was American guard Gabriel Belardo (188-89, college: FIU) who scored 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Luis Hernandez (198) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 7 blocks.
