Here is the weekly review of the top performing Uruguayan players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is an international power forward Mathias Calfani (204-92, agency: Pro Sports, currently plays in Argentina). He led San Lorenzo to an easy victory against the third-ranked Ferro (4-4) crushing them 100-77 in the Argentinian La Liga in Saturday night's game. Calfani scored 13 points in 22 minutes on the court. It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams in Group C. San Lorenzo de Almagra (7-1) is placed first. Calfani has relatively good stats this year: 10.1ppg, 5.4rpg, 1.6apg, 1.3spg, 2FGP: 58.3%(28-48) in 10 games he played so far. He is currently a member of the Uruguayan senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an experienced international forward Sebastian Vazquez (195-85, also represented by Pro Sports, currently plays in Argentina). Vazquez could not help Olimpico de La Banda (3-5) to beat Comunicaciones (4-4). He scored 7 points. The fifth-placed Olimpico de La Banda (3-5) was badly defeated 73-53 on the road by the second-ranked Comunicaciones in the Group B. It's Vazquez's first season with the team. This year Vazquez averages: 3.0ppg, 2.8rpg, 2FGP: 41.0%, 3FGP: 11.1%. He is in the roster of the Uruguayan senior national team.

   #3. The Uruguayan player who performed third best last week abroad was an international guard Diego Garcia (183-92, currently plays in Argentina). Garcia led Hispano Americano de Rio Gallegos to a victory against the leader Penarol (6-2) 84-78 in the Argentinian La Liga on Saturday night. He scored 11 points and added 5 assists in 28 minutes. Hispano Americano de Rio Gallegos (1-7) is placed fifth in Group C. This year Garcia's overall stats are: 5.3ppg, 1.9rpg, 3.1apg, 2FGP: 46.8%, 3FGP: 22.6% and FT: 78.9% in 15 games. He is also a member of the Uruguayan senior national team.

   #4. Point guard Bruno Fitipaldo (183-91, another player represented by Pro Sports, currently plays in Spain) was not able to help Burgos in their game against La ICL Manresa (5-4) in the Spanish Liga Endesa. Fitipaldo scored 8 points. Burgos was defeated 82-74 at home by the much higher-ranked La ICL Manresa (#6). But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Fitipaldo's total stats this year are: 8.8ppg, 1.2rpg, 3.9apg and 1.1spg. He is also Uruguayan national team player.

International point guard Santiago Vidal (180-89, another player represented by Pro Sports, currently plays in Spain) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Leyma Basquet (1-6) crushing them 96-75 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) last Saturday. Vidal scored 14 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished 9 assists in 28 minutes. Rio Ourense Termal (4-4) is placed ninth in the LEB Gold. But the season just started, so everything may happen. This year Vidal's total stats are: 8.0ppg, 3.7rpg, 5.1apg and 1.1spg in seven games. He plays currently for the Uruguayan national team.

   #6. Forward Maximiliano Sole (197-88, currently plays in Spain) contributed to an easy victory against the 11th-ranked Casvi (3-6) crushing them 88-56 in the Spanish EBA (fourth division) last Saturday. He scored 6 points, had 8 rebounds and dished 3 assists. Real Madrid II (8-1) is placed second in Group B. It was his team's eighth consecutive victory in a row. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. Sole has averaged so far 4.8ppg, 2.8rpg and 1.1apg. He is a former international player as he played for the Uruguayan senior team three years ago.

Former international small forward Mauricio Aguiar (199-83, another player represented by Pro Sports, currently plays in Brazil) was not able to secure a victory for Corinthians (14-2) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his good performance the league leader Corinthians was defeated 78-68 in Rio de Janeiro by the much lower-ranked CR Vasco Da Gama (#10). Aguiar was the second best scorer with 10 points. But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go. Aguiar has averaged so far 8.3ppg and 1.8rpg. He used to play for the Uruguayan national team two years ago.

Small forward Rodrigo Deus (196-97, currently plays in Spain) managed to help CB Cazorla Jaen Paraiso Interior to win against the fifth-ranked Coin (4-3) 79-74 in the Spanish EBA (fourth division) on Saturday night. He scored 5 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. CB Cazorla Jaen Paraiso Interior (4-3) is placed fourth in Group D-A. Deus has averaged so far 4.5ppg, 3.3rpg and 1.3apg. He used to play for the Uruguayan U18 national team back in 2014.

Former U18 international forward Matias Guerra (201-92, currently plays in Spain) contributed to a Palma II's surprising victory against the fourth-ranked Sant Josep (5-4) 75-73 in the Spanish EBA (fourth division) in Sunday night's game. Guerra scored 5 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 36 minutes. Palma Air Europa II (2-6) is placed 13th in Group C-B. They ended the series of three consecutive loses. Guerra has averaged so far 8.8ppg and 5.6rpg in eight games. He used to play for the Uruguayan U18 national team eight years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Uruguayan passport but never been selected to any of Uruguayan national teams:

   #1. Agustin Zuvich (201-F/C-95, currently plays in Argentina) led Gimnasia LP to a victory against the fifth-ranked Ciclista (3-4) 91-79 in the Argentinian La Liga Argentina (second division) on Wednesday night. Zuvich recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points and getting 10 rebounds. Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata (1-5) is placed eighth in South - C.South group. It was his team's first victory after five consecutive loses. This season Zuvich has relatively solid stats: 12.3ppg and 8.7rpg.

   #2. Bruno Ingratta (200-F/C-95, currently plays in Argentina). He could not help Independiente (0-3) to beat Salta Basket (5-3). Ingratta scored 7 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 35 minutes. Independiente (#2) lost 76-83 at home to the leading Salta Basket in the North - North group. So far Independiente lost all three games in the Regular Season. Ingratta has averaged so far 8.6ppg, 4.3rpg and 1.5apg in eight games he played so far.

   #3. Facundo Escobar (196-F-95, currently plays in Argentina) was not able to help Petrolero in their game against Deportivo Viedma (5-2) in the Argentinian La Liga Argentina (second division). Escobar scored 5 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 18 minutes. Petrolero (#5) lost 71-78 on their home court in Plaza Huincul to the second-ranked Deportivo Viedma in the South - South group. It was Petrolero's fourth consecutive loss in a row. Escobar has averaged so far 5.1ppg and 3.8rpg in eight games.

   #4. Marcelo Nessi (188-G-94, currently plays in Spain) was not able to secure a victory for Liceo Frances (2-6) in their game against Nautico Tenerife (6-3) in the Spanish EBA (fourth division). Nessi scored 9 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 24 minutes. But Liceo Frances (#15) was crushed 94-49 on the road by the much higher-ranked (#5) Nautico Tenerife in the Group B. Nessi has averaged so far 9.6ppg, 3.1rpg, 2.4apg and 1.3spg in seven games.

Panteras de Aguascalientes (LNBP) added to their roster 28-year old American power forward Tony Criswell (205-109kg-91, college: Missouri). He played last summer at Atletico Tabare in Uruguayan Metropolitan. Criswell managed to play in three leagues in two countries last year. In 7 Metropolitan games he recorded very impressive stats: 25.6ppg, 7.3rpg and 1.0apg.
