CALVIN WARNER

Quilmes Mar del Plata (La Liga) landed experienced 38-year old American ex-international forward Calvin Warner (201-109kg-80, college: Jacksonville). He is the second foreign player in the roster as Cameroonian Gaston Essengue signed here earlier.
Warner started the season at Sayago in Uruguayan LUB league. In 8 games he averaged impressive 21.8ppg, 12.0rpg, 5.6apg and 1.0spg this season. He was also selected League Player of the Week (3 times). The last summer Warner played at La Cancha (Moca Reg.League) in Dominican Rep. league.
Among other achievements he won ABA championship title. Warner received also Asia-Basket.com All-William Jones Cup 2nd Team award back in 2015. He was a member of USA Senior National Team in 2015.
Warner is a very experienced player. He has quite traveled the world as his pro career brought him to fourteen different countries on three different continents (Asia, Latin America and of course North America). Warner has played previously professionally in Bahrain, Colombia (Guerreros), France, Iran, Jordan (ASU), Korea, Kuwait (Al Qadsia), Lebanon (Al Moutahed and Byblos), Philippines (Global Port), Saudi Arabia, Venezuela (Panteras, Marinos and Bucaneros), Argentina (Gimnasia) and ABA (Jacksonville Giants).
He is close to retirement age as a player. It may be one of last seasons in his extensive career, which he may end at Quilmes Mar del Plata.
Warner attended Jacksonville University until 2003 and it is his 16th (!!!) season in pro basketball.
His game is described as: A low post player who is a solid jump shooter...has also worked on expanding his outside game...can put the ball on the floor and create shots...his excellent hands and a quick, explosive leaping ability make him a good rebounder.

LUB Round 27: Defensor edges Hebraica by two points - 1 day ago
The round was rather attractive and full of interesting results. The round ended with derby games and favorites losing the games. Here is the last round review presented by ESL. The most exciting game of round 27 in the LUB took place in Montevideo. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 8th ranked Hebraica (14-12) to fifth ranked Defensor (17-9) 89-87 on Monday evening. Defensor made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offen...   [read more]
