ANTHONY LAVEAL JOHNSON

Bahia Basket (La Liga) tabbed 30-year old American center Anthony Laveal Johnson (203-120kg-88, college: Fairfield). It is actually his comeback to Bahia Blanca as he has played here before. Johnson started the season at Defensor in Uruguayan LUB league. In 21 games he averaged impressive 17.6ppg, 7.8rpg, 1.7apg and 1.6spg this season. He was also selected League Player of the Week. The last summer Johnson played at Caneros Del Este (LNB) in Dominican Rep. league where in two games he had 15.0ppg, 6.5rpg, 2.5spg and 2.0bpg. Johnson also played for Soles (LNB) in Dominican Rep. league. In 6 games he recorded 13.8ppg, 9.3rpg, 2.0apg and 1.2spg. The other team Johnson played that season for was Atleticos (BSN) in Puerto Rican league. In 9 games he got remarkable 15.2ppg, 5.9rpg, 1.6apg and 2.3spg.
Among other achievements Johnson played in the final of Liga Americas in 2017. He received also Latinbasket.com All-Liga Americas Center of the Year award in 2017.
Johnson is a very experienced player. And here thanks to pro basketball he experienced life in six different countries playing on three different continents. He is familiar with European, Latin American and of course North American leagues. Johnson has played previously professionally also in Cyprus, Israel (Hasharon), Mexico, Ukraine and Venezuela (Toros and Guaros).
He attended Fairfield University until 2010 and it is his ninth season in pro basketball.

The best player for the winners was naturalized Brazilian center Hatila Passos (211-85, college: N.Mexico St.) who scored 15 points and 9 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field).
