There are only two more rounds left in the Second Stage in LUB. There were many interesting games last round. The round ended with derby games and games ending by tiny margin. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most exciting game of round 4 in the LUB took place in Montevideo. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 5th ranked Urunday Univ. (1-2) to sixth ranked Defensor (1-2) 72-69 on Tuesday evening. Defensor forced 20 Urunday Univ. turnovers. The game was dominated by American players. Forward Anthony Young (200-89, college: Ky Wesleyan) fired a double-double by scoring 25 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Power forward Eric Dawson (206-84, college: Midwestern St., agency: Interperformances) chipped in 7 points and 15 rebounds. Power forward Chaz Crawford (207-84, college: Drexel) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds for lost side. Defensor maintains sixth position in Places 1-6 with 1-2 record. Defensor's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo Malvin.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Montevideo: Malvin (#1) and Trouville (#3). Malvin (3-0) smashed visiting Trouville (1-2) by 19 points 102-83. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized Brazilian center Hatila Passos (211-85, college: N.Mexico St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of his seven free throws). Wendell McKines contributed with 15 points for the winners. American center Paul Harrison (203-89, college: N.Greenville) replied with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for Trouville. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains first position in Places 1-6 with 3-0 record. Trouville at the other side keeps the third place with two games lost. Malvin's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Montevideo to the arena Defensor.

It was a key game for the second position in Places 1-6. Worth to mention a great performance of Al Thornton who helped to win the game recording 31 points and 7 rebounds. Aguada's coach Fernando Cabrera used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side Esteban Batista responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 18 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 blocks. Aguada maintains second position in Places 1-6 with 2-1 record having twenty seven points less than leader Atenas. Loser Nacional dropped to the fourth place with two games lost. Aguada's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo Urunday Univ..

Hebraica was defeated at home 81-86 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The winners were led by Brandon Nazione who scored that evening 20 points and 7 rebounds. Olimpia maintains first position in Places 7-10 with 3-1 record. Hebraica at the other side keeps the fourth place with three games lost. Olimpia's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo Bigua.
Another interesting game was also this time a derby match between local teams from Montevideo: Goes (#3) and Bigua (#2). Bigua was defeated at home 67-79 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Fernando Martinez fired 23 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Bigua's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Goes maintains third position in Places 7-10 with 2-2 record having twenty six points less than leader Atenas. Goes' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo Hebraica.

The most exciting game of round 4 in the LUB took place in Montevideo. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 5th ranked Urunday Univ. Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Montevideo: Malvin (#1) and Trouville (#3). Malvin (3-0) smashed visiting Trouville (1-2) by 19 points 102-83. Malvin made 20-of-25 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three nailing 12 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. Malvin players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized Brazilian center Hatila Passos (211-85, college: N.Mexico St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of his seven free throws). American forward Wendell McKines (198-88, college: N.Mexico St.) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Aguada - Nacional 123-117

Another interesting game was again a derby between two local teams from Montevideo: Aguada (#2) and Nacional (#3). Aguada (2-1) won against visiting Nacional (1-2) 123-117. It was a key game for the second position in Places 1-6. Aguada made 27-of-31 free shots (87.1 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Nacional turnovers. Strangely Nacional outrebounded Aguada 53-39 including 38 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Al Thornton (203-83, college: Florida St.) who helped to win the game recording 31 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import forward Dwayne Davis (196-89, college: S.Mississippi, agency: Interperformances) who added 22 points and 4 steals during the contest. Aguada's coach Fernando Cabrera used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side naturalized Spanish center Esteban Batista (208-83, agency: Duran International) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 18 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 blocks and American John DeGroat (201-85, college: Pittsburgh) scored 27 points and 9 rebounds (made all of his ten free throws !!!). Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Aguada maintains second position in Places 1-6 with 2-1 record having twenty seven points less than leader Atenas. Another interesting game was again a derby match of two teams from Montevideo: Olimpia (#1) and Hebraica (#4). Hebraica was defeated at home 81-86 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The winners were led by American Brandon Nazione (202-94, college: E.Michigan) who scored that evening 20 points and 7 rebounds and naturalized German center Kiril Wachsmann (203-84, college: Iona) supported him with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Even 20 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists by forward Gaston Semiglia (191-91) did not help to save the game for Hebraica. Panamanian center Jaime Lloreda (204-80, college: LSU) added 19 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Olimpia maintains first position in Places 7-10 with 3-1 record. Hebraica at the other side keeps the fourth place with three games lost. Another interesting game was also this time a derby match between local teams from Montevideo: Goes (#3) and Bigua (#2). Bigua was defeated at home 67-79 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Goes made 30-of-37 free shots (81.1 percent) during the game, while Bigua only scored thirteen points from the stripe. Bigua was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Fernando Martinez (170-79, agency: Pro Sports) fired 23 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Darryl Bryant (185-90, college: W.Virginia) chipped in 19 points. American Storm Warren (201-88, college: LSU) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds and forward Martin Rojas (197-98) added 15 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side.
