   #1. This week's number one is an international point guard Luciano Parodi (182-94, currently plays in Brazil). He led Corinthians to a victory against the tenth-ranked Brasilia (10-16) 83-74 in the Brazilian NBB in Saturday night's game. Parodi scored 13 points, had 4 boards, passed 9 assists and added 4 steals in 36 minutes on the court. Sport Club Corinthians Paulista (3-7) is placed fourth in the NBB. Parodi has relatively good stats this year: 13.9ppg, 3.3rpg, 6.7apg, 2.3spg, 2FGP: 53.9%, 3FGP: 36.2% and FT: 88.6% in 17 games he played so far. He is currently a member of the Uruguayan senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international guard Diego Garcia (183-92, currently plays in Argentina). Garcia could not help Hispano Americano de Rio Gallegos (10-14) to beat Ferro (17-11). He recorded 6 points. Hispano Americano de Rio Gallegos was crushed 95-61 on the road by the much higher-ranked Ferro (#3). It was Hispano Americano de Rio Gallegos' fifth consecutive loss in a row. This season Garcia averages: 4.4ppg, 2.1rpg, 2.6apg, 2FGP: 49.1%, 3FGP: 34.3% and FT: 63.6%. He is in the roster of the Uruguayan senior national team.

   #3. The Uruguayan player who performed third best last week abroad was an international point guard Bruno Fitipaldo (183-91, agency: Pro Sports, currently plays in Spain). Fitipaldo managed to help San Pablo Inmobiliaria Miraflores Burgos in a victory against the closely-ranked Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (9-16) crushing them 99-76 in the Spanish Liga Endesa on Sunday night. He scored 5 points and added 4 passes in 19 minutes. San Pablo Inmobiliaria Miraflores Burgos (12-14) is placed 11th in the Liga Endesa. It's Fitipaldo's first season with the team. This year Fitipaldo's overall stats are: 8.2ppg, 1.8rpg, 4.6apg, 2FGP: 52.4%, 3FGP: 36.3% and FT: 76.9% in 25 games. He is also a member of the Uruguayan senior national team.

Center Rogelio De Leon (205-89, currently plays in Argentina) contributed to an easy victory against the seventh-ranked Gimnasia LP (13-24) 82-67 in the Argentinian La Liga Argentina (second division) last Wednesday. De Leon scored 13 points in 25 minutes. Tomas de Rocamora (2-3) is placed fourth in South - C.South group. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This year De Leon's total stats are: 8.1ppg, 5.4rpg and 1.3bpg in 13 games. He used to play for the Uruguayan U17 national team back in 2005.

International point guard Santiago Vidal (180-89, also represented by Pro Sports, currently plays in Spain) was not able to help Ourense in their game against RETAbet BB (21-9) in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division). Vidal scored 6 points and added 6 passes. Ourense was defeated 82-70 at home by the second-ranked RETAbet BB. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Vidal has averaged so far 7.2ppg, 3.7rpg, 5.7apg and 1.5spg. He plays currently for the Uruguayan national team.

An experienced small forward Mauricio Aguiar (199-83, another player represented by Pro Sports, currently plays in Brazil) is a teammate of previously mentioned Luciano Parodi and both played together in the last Brazilian NBB game. Aguiar contributed to Corinthians' victory against the tenth-ranked Brasilia (10-16) 83-74. He scored only 3 points in 5 minutes on the court. Aguiar has averaged so far 6.6ppg and 1.1rpg in 25 games. He is a former international player as he played for the Uruguayan senior team three years ago.

Former U18 international forward Matias Guerra (201-92, currently plays in Spain) contributed to an easy victory against the 14th-ranked Vive El Masnou (4-20) crushing them 110-75 in the Spanish EBA (fourth division) on Saturday night. Guerra scored only one point and blocked 2 blocks in 12 minutes. Palma Air Europa II (10-13) is placed tenth in Group C-B. They ended the series of four consecutive loses. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be important. This year Guerra has relatively solid stats: 11.4ppg, 8.0rpg and 1.3apg in 22 games. He used to play for the Uruguayan U18 national team nine years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Uruguayan passport but never been selected to any of Uruguayan national teams:

   #1. Emiliano Giano (180-PG-89, currently plays in Spain) contributed to Navarra's victory against the eighth-ranked Girona Basquet (15-15) 90-81 in the Spanish LEB Silver (third division) in Saturday night's game. Giano scored 9 points. Basket Navarra (20-9) is placed first in West group. Giano's total stats this season are: 3.5ppg and 1.2rpg. He has a dual citizenship: Italian and Uruguayan.

   #2. Agustin Zuvich (201-F/C-95, currently plays in Argentina). Zuvich could not help Gimnasia LP (13-24) to beat Rocamora (2-3). He cannot count Wednesday's game as one of the best ones. Zuvich scored only 2 points. The seventh-placed Gimnasia LP (13-24) was defeated 82-67 on the road by the higher-ranked Rocamora (#4) in the South - C.South group. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This season Zuvich has relatively solid stats: 11.0ppg, 8.2rpg, 1.5apg and 1.2spg. He is another player who holds two passports: Argentinian and Uruguayan.

ELIJAH MILLSAP Defending champion Malvin Montevideo (LUB) landed 31-year old American ex-international guard Elijah Millsap (198-98kg-87, college: UAB). He started the season at Breogan in Spanish Liga Endesa. In 11 games he averaged 7.0ppg and 1.9rpg this season. The most of last season Millsap spent at the Wolves in NBA where in 45 games he had very impressive stats: 15.1ppg, 5.3rpg, 2.3apg and 1.5spg. He also spent pre-season at the Suns in NBA. Here is the weekly review of the top performing Uruguayan players, who play currently abroad. This week's number one is an international power forward Mathias Calfani (204-92, agency: Pro Sports). He could not help San Lorenzo (22-3) in their last game. Despite Calfani's good performance the league leader San Lorenzo was badly defeated 91-71 on the road by the lower-ranked (#7) Gimnasia.    [read more]
