In 2006 he was drafted by New Jersey Nets (NBA) in first round (23rd overall). The former University of Connecticut standout is in his 16th (!!!) season in pro basketball. He is a very experienced player. And here thanks to pro basketball Boone experienced life in eight different countries playing on four different continents. He is familiar with European, Asian, Australian and of course North American leagues. Boone has played previously professionally in China (Golden Bulls), Estonia (Kalev/Cramo), Hong Kong (Hong Kong Eastern Long Lions), Philippines (Ginebra Kings), Russia, Turkey (Pinar Karsiyaka), Australia (United) and The Basketball Tournament (HBC Sicklerville and Tri-State Titans). He is close to retirement age as a player. It may be one of last seasons in his extensive career, which he may end at Defensor. Let's have closer look into Boone's outlook: (by Aran Smith for NBADraft.net in 2006) Has a great attitude, plays hard, wants to improve ... Strong defensively ... Explosive leaper, with good timing and instincts on blocked shots ... Giant wingspan gives him added size ... Fights hard for rebounds, hustles for loose balls ... Big strong hands, when he gets his hands on a rebound it's his ... Needs to develop better offensive post moves ... Must develop a consistent mid range jump shot ...
