Jayson Granger gets MVP of the Week award for Uruguayan LUB (Second Stage)

Experienced Naturalized Italian Jayson Granger (191-G-1989) had a great game in the last round for league's second-best Club Atletico Penarol Montevideo and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 9 (Second Stage).
The 34-year old guard got a double-double of 18 points and 12 assists, while his team crushed Defensor (#4, 17-11) with 16-point margin 83-67. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Penarol maintains the 2nd position in Uruguayan LUB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier in Second Stage. Penarol will need more victories to improve their 21-6 record. In the team's last game Granger had a remarkable 71.4% from 2-point range. He turned to be Penarol's top player in his first season with the team. Granger has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in assists (3rd best: 6.6apg) and averages solid 53.3% FGP. Worth to mention Granger played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American shooting guard Daniel Hamilton (201-SG-1995) of Places 7-12 best team Malvin Montevideo. Hamilton impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds. Of course Malvin cruised to a 90-82 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked Trouville (#9, 11-18). Of course Malvin still keep the league's top spot. His team has currently 17-13 record. Hamilton is a newcomer at Malvin and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 17.2ppg (#7). His other stats are also decent: 8.4rpg and 5.9apg.

The third best performed player last round was American Christian James (194-PG-1996) of Goes Montevideo (#5). James scored 27 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Despite James' great performance the Goes lost 85-91 to slightly lower-ranked Bigua (#6, 14-17). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Goes not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 20 games, recording just nine victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, James could try to bring Goes' a little bit higher in the standings. James has a very solid season. In 7 games in Uruguay he scored 18.9ppg. He also has 4.9rpg, 4.7apg and a FGP of 60.9%.
