Metropolitan Round 10 (Regular Season): Olimpia keeps a leadership position

There will be only one (last) round of the Regular Season in Metropolitan. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Olimpia as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Olimpia defeated 6th ranked Colon in Montevideo 98-85. Olimpia made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Olimpia outrebounded Colon 38-27 including 32 on the defensive glass. Olimpia looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Sebastian Ottonello (200-1997) fired a double-double by scoring 14 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American guard Stan Scott (193-1998, college: MSSU) chipped in 17 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Manuel Oyenard (194-2000) produced a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Olimpia (7-1) have an impressive seven-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Colon at the other side keeps the sixth place with four games lost. Colon will play next round against Tabare trying to get back on the winning streak. Olimpia will try to continue on its current victory against twelfth ranked Sayago on the road.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Montevideo: Capitol (#6) and Stockolmo (#7). Stockolmo was defeated at home 78-86 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Juan Galletto (182-1996) who helped to win the game recording 25 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Martin Aguilera contributed with 16 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Argentinian forward Lucio Castellani (196-1994) replied with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists for Stockolmo. Capitol (6-2) have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Stockolmo at the other side keeps the seventh position with five games lost. They share it with Bohemios. Capitol's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo Bohemios.
Another interesting game was again a derby between two local teams from Montevideo: Bohemios (#8) and Goes (#5). Bohemios (5-5) won against visiting Goes (6-3) 99-89. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Goes. Tomas Verbauwede had a double-double by scoring 21 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners. At the losing side Tyler Harris responded with 28 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Bohemios moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Stockolmo. Loser Goes dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with Montevideo. Bohemios' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Montevideo to the arena Capitol.

Rest of the games of round 10 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
bottom-ranked O.Mundial was defeated by Tabare in a road game 91-84. U.Atletica beat Larranaga at home 83-69. Montevideo lost to Lagomar on the opponent's court 88-89. Verdirrojo unfortunately lost to Sayago in a home game 77-85.
The best stats of 10th round was 26 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals by Randy Rickards of Verdirrojo.



Stockolmo - Capitol 78-86

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Montevideo: Capitol (#6) and Stockolmo (#7). Stockolmo was defeated at home 78-86 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Capitol had a 35-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Juan Galletto (182-1996) who helped to win the game recording 25 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Martin Aguilera (195-1987, agency: Pro Sports) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Five Capitol players scored in double figures. Argentinian forward Lucio Castellani (196-1994) replied with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists and guard Facundo Terra (187-1998, agency: Pro Sports) added 17 points and 4 assists in the effort for Stockolmo. There was no surprise when 15th ranked O.Mundial (1-8) was defeated on the road by eleventh ranked Tabare (4-5) 91-84 on Monday. Tabare looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American Tirrell Brown (198-1993, college: OBU) scored 33 points (!!!) and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and guard Juan Zanotta (185-1995) chipped in 5 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists during the contest. At the losing side Facundo Medina (190-1994) responded with 26 points and 7 rebounds (made all of his twelve free throws !!!) and guard Thomas Araujo (192-2004) scored 23 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Tabare moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Lagomar. O.Mundial lost sixth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with eight games lost. Tabare will meet higher ranked Colon (#6) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. O.Mundial will have a break next round.

No shocking result in a game in Montevideo where fourth ranked U.Atletica (7-2) defeated 12th ranked Larranaga (3-7) 83-69 on Monday. U.Atletica forced 19 Larranaga turnovers. American-Nigerian Okanu Kingsley (202, college: GVSU, agency: Helping Ballers) scored 23 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Ivan Loriente (190-1992, agency: Pro Sports) chipped in 16 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Four U.Atletica players scored in double figures. At the losing side Argentinian Mateo Bolivar (187-1992) responded with 24 points and naturalized Argentinian power forward Agustin Zuvich (201-1995) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. U.Atletica have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Another interesting game was again a derby between two local teams from Montevideo: Bohemios (#8) and Goes (#5). Bohemios (5-5) won against visiting Goes (6-3) 99-89. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Lagomar dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Montevideo's 38. They outrebounded Montevideo 42-28 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Lagomar looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists.
