Metropolitan Round 22 (Regular Season): Olimpia beats Verdirrojo by two after a very close game

Twelfth-ranked Verdirrojo (6-13) was very close to win a game against first ranked Olimpia (16-4) in Montevideo on Wednesday. Olimpia managed to secure only two-point victory 87-85. However their fans expected much easier game. Olimpia looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of DNicolas Delgado (198-1987) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Forward Rodrigo Brause (194-1995) contributed with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American forward Randy Rickards (201-2000, college: WILMU) replied with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds (made all of his ten free throws !!!) for Verdirrojo. Olimpia maintains first position with 16-4 record. Verdirrojo lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the fourteenth place with 13 games lost. Olimpia are looking forward to face Tabare (#7) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Verdirrojo's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Montevideo to the arena O.Mundial.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Montevideo: Larranaga (#5) and Stockolmo (#8). Stockolmo was defeated at home 82-89 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Stockolmo. Naturalized Argentinian power forward Agustin Zuvich (201-1995) had a double-double by scoring 21 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Mateo Bolivar chipped in 22 points during the contest. At the losing side guard Facundo Terra (187-1998) responded with 28 points and 6 assists. Larranaga (12-9) have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Colon. Stockolmo at the other side keeps the eighth position with nine games lost. Larranaga's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo Bohemios.
The game between thirteenth ranked Bohemios (8-13) and 12th ranked Sayago (7-12) in Montevideo on Saturday ended with biggest points difference. Bohemios outscored guests from Sayago 100-79. Agustin Da Costa notched a double-double by scoring 32 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort. Even 15 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals by Anthony Hilliard did not help to save the game for Sayago. Bohemios have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to twelfth place. Loser Sayago dropped to the thirteenth position with 12 games lost.
